23  Developer / Business / Re: Advertisement in Flash Games on: March 31, 2011, 06:41:09 AM
In my experience making money off flash games is hard. If you're looking for an sponsorship you'll soon realize that they aren't looking for good games, just games that they think will appeal to the market and tried and proved concepts, that's why so much games that get sponsorships are photocopies with little changes. Or you get an sponsorship if you are a renowned developer, so for starters is very difficult.

And ad revenue share is almost a cruel joke, after fooling around on FGL looking for sponsor for a good game (7 editor rating, 7.7 developer rating) and getting absolutely zero bids (For "Roll hamster, roll"), even after mass mails we then made another game (with less score) and decided to release the second game (Gravital rescue) with ads only and so far our projections with mochi are that for winning 500 bucks we need 1 million plays.

So, I don't know, we have to really think what to do in order to make some money, we have another game ready and don't know if we should release it with ads or try on FGL despite being almost useless for the previous two games.
24  Player / Games / Starcraft 2 Tigsters? on: March 31, 2011, 06:13:20 AM
Hi, I just wanted to know if there is a community of Starcraft 2 players here on Tigsource. I just got the game on Monday and I love it. I play the US version and will love to add some of you as my friends so we can play from time to time.
Also in our office we have a silver 3 v 3 team (We're not that good Tongue, we are all bronze in 1 v 1 so far). So that's another fun option.

If you wanna play some time add me:
my nickname on battleNet is "Kreender".
my character code is '458'.
25  Community / Townhall / Gravital Rescue Rescue released on: March 29, 2011, 12:16:48 PM
Hi

This is not our first game but is the first one we are going to release. We got tired of waiting for serious bid on FGL so we released it on kongregate and with mochiads in some other sites.
It's a challenging and fun game that puts you in control of a rocket, it features an interesting physics simulation, black holes, asteroids and 20 fun packed levels (wow, I sound like a salesman).

And you can play it:
On Kongregate
Or in our site

Spread the word if you like it Tigsters.

Have a nice day you all.

I was really eager to play this game. I hope you finish it after all.

That was fun, I had a quick match against my brother followed by an epic 4 minute match. I liked the leaves in the background a lot, and the characters are pretty cool. Nice work ChevyRay!

Thinking too, usually it takes a long time for me to get asleep but during the day I can sleep like a baby in just a few minutes.
Checking if I have my wallet, keys and cellphone in my pocket. When I had glasses adjusting them automatically was a given (After I had surgery in my eyes I tried to adjust imaginary glasses like for a month).
Scratching.

Some games - even good games - are not what sponsors are looking for. They usually have a pretty good idea of what will generate traffic on their particular site.

True, that's the bad thing of the flash market. Usually copies of games that proved successful sell a lot easier than an innovative and cool game.

@Moi I don't know about Torque, I read bad comments about it a while back but I can't remember what was the problem to tell you the truth.

@Nix I didn't know about haxe, I'll definitely check it out.

Thank you all for the amazing advice.

@racter
I read about 2d games with unity but I saw a it required a commercial plugin, maybe I need to research better. I knew about projectors but wanted something prettier, I'll see what's in the market. Flixel seems cool, I want to learn it, maybe I'll try entering the versus compo and making something.

@mcc
The only thing I don't like of as3 it's the performance, sometimes it feels really slow.
37  Developer / Technical / Engine or framework recommendation for 2d PC games on: January 22, 2011, 07:17:42 AM
Hi, I want to learn an engine or platform to develop commercial 2d games for PC (more platforms would be a plus). But I don't know which engine would be good to learn for me (I know that for 3d I want to use unity, but no clue for 2d), I know as3 and java, but if necessary I would learn another language. Maybe XNA?, I really don't know.
I really would appreciate your feedback.
38  Developer / Playtesting / Re: Feedback on "Gravital rescue" (FGL only) on: January 19, 2011, 03:37:16 AM
Corrected!, now anyone registered can see it.
39  Developer / Playtesting / Re: Feedback on "Gravital rescue" (FGL only) on: January 17, 2011, 12:11:00 PM
I don't want to sound arrogant, but the registration could hamper feedback flowing a bit.

I know but because the game doesn't have a sponsor yet I cannot let it run wild on the internetz. I know there are several developers here with accounts on FGl I hope they get to see the game.
Thanks for your interest bicilotti.
