Is anyone in Ventura or LA county CA interested in having a game jam/meetup in Fillmore, CA?

Cuz' that's where I live now!

I got rocked by visiting with family on Christmas and illness, but I'm better now. My revised goal is to finish 5 games by Jan 10th.

I've got 1 started and another in the works.

They're going to be cray.

Here's a freebie for a motivating idea:

A Home Improvement themed world domination strategy game. Duke Brad annexes the Den!

There, now don't your ideas sound way better?

I once did 90 games in 100 days, but I've really fallen off the wagon since then.

I'd better hop on this to regain my skills.

Count me in!

Yo GDC duders,

Anyone interested in a chill, low key game jam tonight? 6pm - 11pm ish? I can host at my apartment (10-15 minute walk from Moscone) if there is interest.

Let me know and I'll update this if there's enough interest to make it certain.
10  Community / Jams & Events / Re: GDC: So it begins again. on: March 05, 2013, 10:24:33 AM
I'll be hosting a game jam at my place on one or more evenings. It's a 10 min walk from Moscone. If anyone's interested let me know what days and times would work best, I'll try and not collide with other events.

Looking forward to hanging out with all you radical people again.

15  Developer / Playtesting / Re: Red Ice [Alpha] [HTML5] on: November 25, 2012, 05:17:51 PM
Heyo! It's been a long time coming, but Red Ice is now in Alpha!

Check out the latest screenshots, download the latest alpha, and let me know what you think!

Open 'run.html' in Chrome to play. Plug in gamepads and they should work straight away. Keyboard controls are available as arrow keys and z, x, but gamepads are better.

View the website: http://redicegame.com/
Download the alpha: https://github.com/PixieEngine/RedIce/zipball/alpha

Sound effects are currently placeholders.

I'm looking for all feedback, gameplay, website, issues running the game, anything. Thanks!

Grapple Man 2 is one that I'm most proud of. In the original Grapple Man I spent 53 minutes implementing grappling hook physics and 7 minutes making levels. In the sequel I fixed some bugs and then made 20+ levels in half an hour. One day I'll polish it up and make a real game of it.

For the past 85 days I've been doing 1hr daily game jams.

Today I made Landlord 2.5, a continuation of Landlord 2 which I made yesterday. You are a landlord trying to get rich by renting vacation homes that have radon gas leaks.

I figure that I should start putting these daily games up somewhere on TIGSource and devlogs seems like a good place to do it. My progress is at 10% because I'm planning on 900 days of 1 hour games. Check out the full list of games if you're interested in seeing them all.

Location: 330 N Mathilda Ave #910

Please RSVP. It's at my apartment so space may be cramped.

@mdiebolt and I review our daily 1 hour game jams over the past week. We discuss what the hell we were thinking in each design. Audio levels in games are sometimes too loud, so be careful.

First 30 Days:

Week ending 04-14-2012:

I find that doing these 1 hour jams every day really helps to focus my game design skills. Who'd have thought that practicing something for at least an hour every day will make you better at it? Now when Ludum Dare rolls around 48 hours will seem like a 2 year dev cycle.
