Was anyone watching when I stole the
webcam and captured Cactus' groin? It was
an epic sight.
It has been really great so far, just way too hot! Crazy

Friday, 14:35 PM.

Finally got my plane tickets booked.

Same here, do you travel via London? Gentleman

Yes I do. Are we on the same plane? How awesome is that?!

Erik and Martin are flying over in a different plane? Right?

Fantastic! :D That's very awesome! I'm going together with Martin,
Erik is on a plane one hour ahead, but he'll wait for us at the airport.
... and I think he's traveling with Cactus?

You have to look at the lower part of the tie or the mp3-player.
Thanks, I'll get it this time!

Yeah, I just skimmed the Kotaku post again and wow, they really didn't seem to like it (which I find funny as they did post it; it's almost as if the editor didn't have anything else to post so he posted that, very begrudgingly).

And I will say that it's almost impossible to top You Have to Burn the Rope; that game has literally had me falling down laughing.  There's just something about it's sense of humour that matches so exactly with mine that it destroys me.

I don't mind people disliking the game, I was actually expecting it to
be hated a lot more. It's just, like you said, funny that he wrote about it
at all, and in this negative tone, spinning most of the comments in the same
direction.

Thanks for your kind words about YHTBTR! (I'm so sick of spelling that out.)
I think one thing that it did well was that it (unintentionally) worked
on several levels. I'd like to think that it's clever humor with a 'message'
(just like Metro Rules of Conduct) but I think most people just thought it
was funny because it was short and had all these walkthrougs and stuff.

Thanks! Smiley And really cool to be on Kotaku,
too bad they don't seem to like it though :D

Annabelle, Xerus (or anyone else): Would you
mind trying that exploit again? I couldn't
easily replicate it the first time (embarrassing Embarrassed)
and now I definitely can't. Not sure it's completely
impossible though.

Hahaha! :D Brilliant idea!
Good luck with the contest! Wink

Thanks guys! Your feedback means the world!

Annabelle: Thanks for pointing that out! :D
I was wondering how people were getting so high
scores, although the ridiculously high ones doesn't
register, they're filtered out as cheating. I'll
upload a fixed version and reset the highscores tonight.

Xerus: Did you take advantage of the same bug that Annabelle
pointed out?

Maridia from Super Metroid... or maybe when you first arrive
at Zebes. Or maybe the whole thing actually Kiss

I really don't know.  In some way, this could be seen as capturing the fact that one's eyes are naturally drawn to looking at objects, and in this light the mechanism has just the right strength.  I don't have strong feelings either way, but it was something I thought might be worth mentioning.

Yes, that's the idea Smiley And it was absolutely worth mentioning, the fact that
it wasn't crystal clear means it needs adjusting!
15  Developer / Playtesting / Re: Metro Rules of Conduct on: December 04, 2008, 04:05:25 PM
Thanks guys, I appreciate it!

Good idea for a game.  The lock-on mechanism was really smart (though sometimes a bit too strong?).
Thanks, I made the lock-on mechanism very strong to make it easier
for non-gamers to appreciate the game. The idea was that even my mother
would be able to play and enjoy the game..... it was too hard for her. Sad
Maybe it is a bit too strong though, do you think it works better with people
close to you/ far from you or is it too strong no matter what the distance?
What does the rest of you think?

It also reminded me of the boob-staring game, though just a little.
Haha, the boob-staring game was awesome!

* It'd be nice to have some sort of subtle warning that someone is going to look at you.
Like edditree mentioned, you can see when it's time to move away, but it is perhaps a bit too subtle or just too fast.

* There's no variation from level to level, but it doesn't really matter when it's a short game.
I've thought about this a lot, in my opinion it's the thing that keeps it from
feeling like a complete game... The problem is that I can't just add an arbitrary
rule that fixes the gameplay, I have to think about the "dynamical meaning", as Jonathan Blow calls it, too.

* I wish it was possible to use the mouse.
This I'm not so sure about, I think it would be quite different if the view
had to "drag" towards the mouse, it would feel kind of sluggish. Maybe it's just
me but I have a hard time getting a good feel for using a mouse for this type
of gameplay.

Hey guys!

I'd love to get some feedback on my game Metro Rules of Conduct.
On everything from gameplay to graphics to typography to "message"/ joke,
you name it. Play game. I love this game like my baby... (Not that I have a baby.
I just mean that if I had a baby I'd probably like it as much as I love this game. Probably.)

I hoped you would like it. Grin Your game was so accomplished I just had to screw it up! Hope you don't mind.

On the contrary, I'm very much honored Smiley
Congratulations to the tenth spot! Gentleman

Glad you like the game guys! Beer!

Also, what did you use for physics?  Box2D?

Sorry for my late reply, I've had very limited access to the net
since I moved. The first post is updated with a link to an online version!

For physics I use motor2 which is a action script port of Box2D.
19  Community / Bootleg Demakes / Re: [FINISHED] Rocket Belt Rawr on: September 02, 2008, 06:24:24 AM
Thanks guys! :D
There's some issues with the game, the number of iterations
in the physics step is ridiculously high (for a flash game),
so it probably doesn't run very well on older computers.
And I forgot to embed the font for the time limit, which bugs
me to infinity. I'll fix these things and tweak the gameplay
a bit more before the deadline.
