Funeral must be quite something if people consider The Suburbs a disappointment. It's the best pop record I've heard all year.
It's not so much a dissapointment as something that dind't struck me like a lighting as the first. Everybody says masterpiece, I say OK album. I blame it on guards EP for getting almost all my atention, so far it's one of this year favs. Among the insane number of new albums I've been trying to digest for the past few weeks or so, I got on repeat best coast's crazy for you and las robertas' cry out loud for my daily dose of girls that rock. Public Strain, from Women is surprisingly good, I never quite got a grip on the first one so I might want to go back in time a bit... I liked Candy Claws' LP quite a bit, but I bring it up 'cause there is a recent Brian Wilson record playing Gershwin songs. Haven't listened to it yet, but it's on my playlist/wishlist. and for walking (not necessarily for walking at night) nothing beats:

I love sampling. What could anyone have against sampling?
I dunno? ****RANT HIDDEN FOR COOLNESS SAKE**** It really strikes me as something unsurprising. I mean, Justice are tired of saying that more than half of the sample of "cross" are yet to be cleared. I recall watching a documentary, i guess it was about open source in general, not just coding, so, music included. Girl talk was in the spotlight and the dude went on to say how sampling & remixing is there to make music grow, to encourage experimentation and y'know, fun. I do think CC are just massive dicks, but that's just the feeling they give all around, and despite this and all the hype, their album is very good. JAMC's "Just Like Honey" starts with one of the most recognizables drums ever, the piano in oasis' "don't look back in anger" is the effin' beatles. So... sampling, copying, etc. has been pretty much standard in music; maybe the problem is the internet and how people like to bitch about everything when EVERYONE is making content over the web. C'mon, even the girl from vampire weekend's contra cover is suing the band for alleged licensing issues! Or maybe I'm wrong, and I just like to think people could be happier if they just got along with each other. Oh god, i'm a hippie.****END RANT**** I still have to listen to baths' album properly. So far I know a couple of songs and I love them. I've been listening lots of EPs/7"/12" that are making the rounds in the intertubes; I came across earlier this week, and I wish I gotten to them sooner. Poppy poppyness from the hand of coolrunnings are cool (lame, i know - ALSO: nudity warning in the link.) This brought me mild vibes of cocteau twins through a time gate to the 21st century I find rose bath lovely. Such a beautiful song. Mixtape/Collection/Compilation of electronic pop from Primary 1 OK, i'm tired of writing/looking for links. doods!

came to the deskotp dungeons party kinda late, and since I liek it, I started a tileset this morning WIP so far. It's 10x20 to convert them to 2x:1 later. I still struggle with some pixels I'm not happy yet (like the horn of the dragonspawn) and colors are more or less a mess. I'm trying to keep 3 colors + black/transparency per sprite, but it's not written in stone. Also: the palette. Any suggestions? I was thinking either cga, ega, or speccy, but I'm not sure about it.

16:10. Mine it's a samsung with native resolution at 1680*1050. And I can go higher or lower with no problem at all (except blurriness associated with not being at native resolution, y'know? ) I think most TV's LCS have a 16:9 ratio, while most PC Monitors have 16:10; I think it's pretty much a standard, but I could be wrong

Death, pain, sadness = instant memorable scene? it's been an ages long debate since the dawn of time, comedy vs. tragedy y'know? [Highlight for spoilers] MW2 (I knew it wouldn't grab me as the first). Still, ghost's death was memorable enough for me. It wasn't that I cared for the characters, but that I understood the scene, and the emotions behind it, I guess? Like "Hey dood we've just met a couple of hours ago, but still I got your back and I'm gonna get you out of here." Bang, you're dead.I don't want to feel obliged to call on Planescape, but hey! Ok, so back in the day, I was playing with very high wisdom, which not only gives you the best xp, but also opens up most of the dialog options. Having such a high wis allowed me to learn de dabus language when speaking to Fell. Later on the playthrough don't remember exactly why, but I discovered that members of you party would translate all of the dialogue options sometimes more or less accurately, sometimes flawed, and sometimes outright lying to you. I have a bag full of similar moments with that game, but somehow this one remains one of my faves.Half-Life (as in the first). Being knocked down after killing those three hard ass assasins for the first time. It think I dropped a massive WTF??!! in thereHalf-Life (as in the second). Hey! look at me! ima gordon freemon! ima the free-man! ima getting into your citadel! ima... whooooaaa!

Finally got a decent vinyl setup going, so I now have access to at least a couple hundred albums from my dad's/uncle's record collection. Highlights include Beatles, Captain Beefheart, Velvet Underground, Talking Heads, The Who, Mothers of Invention, Kraftwerk and loads more. It's pretty awesome.
Also this.
! Somehow oddly appealing.
yr dad is cool I don't recall right now how my dad's LPs got lost long time ago, but I really relly dug those ennio morricone's albums when I was young.

Not really found anything supergood in the recent weeks, sadly.
Same here dood. I want another great record, but for now at least I've found one great song: - Stoopid-ly funny (Actually Dom's album is not bad at all, but I still can't think of it as a classic)

Not sure if you've heard about my favorite control layout but it's called "freely configurable". It's pretty much perfect and there's literally no reason not to use it. This. No excuse for it. It's even worse when you use ZXC and they can't be reconfigured, because german keyboards are QWERTZ, i.e. they have Z and Y swapped. Absolutely. I'm surprised configurable controls aren't in more games, as they aren't that hard to program. this, again. throw in controller and one switch support if you can.

...with a jerry-rigged rainbow lightsaber...
Oh my! That might be greatest idea to ever come out from star wars. I'm guessing people in nightclubs would love them, until, y'know someone losses a hand or something. Or maybe we can get a gay jedi in the next [insert star wars product here]

I remember many, many, many headaches from disks with bad sectors, and hours staring at norton utilites' screens. It was specially painful tu go and buy a game compressed in ten disks (I now know that was the p word! ) and then back at home one of them was damaged. 5.25 ones serve just right to make cd envelopes so I opened up a couple of dozens back when I needed envelopes in 2001 or so (floppies with no games!). I know I have the rest gathering dust somewhere in the storage room.
