Games won't be art until people, including out of touch guys like Ebert, stop comparing them to movies.
Nothing to worry about though, we just need to keep on making interesting interactive things.
Art games are a valid as art films and art comics, and probably sit neatly between those in terms of media hierarchical snobbery.

Katsew, I'm hoping something will work out. I'll be pretty upset if it turns out that I can't sell Tumbledrop on iPhone anymore. Fingers crossed, huh?. Enjoying the upgrade on my iPad- the game handles the pixel doubling pretty well (can post screenshots later). Good work Great! I'm looking forward to getting my own iPad within the next few weeks! (trusting Apple don't ban me from developing via Unity!)

Tumbledrop 1.10 is available on the App Store now. It adds 20 new levels, and fixes a load of bugs. It's nice timing from Apple because it's my birthday today! Thanks Apple! :3

I'll come! I'll be willing to arrange this again I'm flexible on date. Remember that there are lots and lots of places to eat nearby CB2. I still think it's a good choice of venue.

Unless it's trivial to implement, I think you should stick with the high res graphics only for this version. The PC version already exists, and having to support the pixel art legacy only serves to complicate any features you implement. Remember that graphics take a while for people to get used to also. Also, there are potentially issues of subtle differences with hit-boxes etc.
I think you're doing a great job with the new HD graphics. Other than some of the obvious flipping, there's very little I can criticise about it.

Googoogjoob, it seems that you've been banging this drum for more than a year on this forum, and you're not actually interested in the opinion of people here, many whom are professional developers that deal with publishing and IP contracts every day. Developers are frequently restricted from talking about their projects without permission, and it's normal to not be able to speak about their contracts. I'm sure you've been told this a hundred times. So, you basically have a sense of entitlement to have a PC version of the game, especially because you are very hung up on the use of MMF2 to make the levels. I would imagine Nicalis are less forthcoming with news about Night Game because of your malicious and misinformed witchhunt against them. edit: link to Googoogjoob banging on about the same topic 13 months ago.

Googoogjoob, it sounds as though you ought to be upset at Nifflas. He is the one who chose to sign it away to a publisher including the PC game rights. It sounds as though you just have a very strong sense of entitlement. If you believe in Nifflas, why can't you respect his decision to work with Nicalis? Working with them hasn't stopped him from making further PC games, as has been shown, and his game hasn't been compromised either.
When I show my works in progress, I would hate it if people got furious at me or anyone else if that game was signed to a publisher, a specific platform, or indeed I decided to murder the project.

I don't think you should be allowed to violate your contract, but that doesn't make it okay for Nicalis to make a decision against Nifflas's desires, and then never give the public a reason for it. (Nicalis hasn't ever actually released a statement saying "PC Night Game is cancelled", and in at least one interview, Tyrone blatantly dodges the question of why there won't be a PC version.) Yes, I agree with you that Nicalis should have a corporate line saying 'We don't currently have any plans to release Night Game on other platforms', or 'we don't have anything to announce at this time'. It does make it okay to make a decision against Nifflas' desires though, that's the point of the contract.

I don't like online games, and I'm not much for procedurally generated stuff... but this project still intrigues me. Hmmmmmmmm
Yeah, me too. I think the price is okay, I'd just consider it something I play for one month only, and could return to for another month some other time if I was in the mood. The two accounts thing is interesting. If Chevy and I (for example) wanted to play together, could I buy one subscription and we could share it for a month?

Googoogjoob, do you think that every creator should be allowed to violate their contract? Agreements are made for a reason, to benefit both parties. It's more peculiar that Nifflas spoke out and effectively encouraged his fans to be angry towards Nicalis/his publisher.
It's the equivalent of Jon Blow saying "boo hoo, Microsoft won't let me release the PC version of Braid for a whole year!"

Animal Crossing has potential as a 'female power fantasy', in terms of having the potential to build the best possible collection. Power fantasy is a weird thing anyway, because I believe female power fantasy is just a matter of enabling more than anything.

I just checked it out, because I like the idea of a periodical covering indie games and a community. However, unfortunately I wasn't at all fond of the writing style, the humour, and I generally felt that it did little to try to include me. The humour isn't witty either, so it just isn't funny.
It's a shame really, because I totally miss the 'zine' scene for games.
