should you really be putting that you are a sociologist in your signature if you are german? are you a nationalist too? do you enjoy parties?

Getting there  Hand Clap Smiley
For a brief second, I was almost convinced you really had no bloody clue what a Sociologist actually is.
is it someone with a social disability or is that just a coincidence

Now, as we've almost collected all the necessary words. Nationalist. Parties. Atheism. Demons. Murder. Babies. Disabilities. And last but not least, Nazi. If it were a game, it would have been made by Edmund.

German History Lessons are tedious too, at least on the school I used to visit. 6 Years of history lesson in total (at which point I switched over to a higher school level).
Started off with Ancient Greece and Rome. Well cool, filled about a year. Learned a lot about aqueducts that year. Quickly proceeded to the dark ages, somehow magically managing to dodge the whole witch burning thing. Second half of the year quickly glanced over communism, once again dodging the whole death toll of the revolution.
So that's 2 years of history lesson. Mildly interesting. Dodging a lot of things. The next 4 years however were filled to the brim with World War II. School had us memorize death tolls of individual battles, memorize death tolls of KZs, read news from that era, rehearse about a million times how and why germany was wrong, why it had to fail, why it did fail, why we should be thoughtful of every single german's eternal guilt (wtf? I wasn't even born back then...). And that was just year 1. Rejoice for the following years of more repetition.

Pretty much what Sinclair said. It's quite common really.
Anyways, at this point, the kid has fallen down the well already. Nothing we say can change his mind. He'll either pick up the pace on his own and get over the phase, or smell like fries and burgers all day. It's okay. Society needs dropouts. Couldn't function without them. So go for it kid, drop out, I'll make sure to spare a coin or two when you deliver my lunch.

My money is on unrelenting force. Although I mostly use it as a "get the fuck out of my way" card, what with NPCs constantly hugging doorways and blocking my way out.

And since Fallout 3 came up, my main gripe with the game are the landscapes. Yes, it's an apocalyptic wasteland but that doesn't mean there shouldn't be interesting visuals and places. They tried in some places, like Rivet City, but I feel like they could have done so much more in that regard. Too few places had strong visual cues in my opinion, and that turned Fallout 3 into a bland and dull game for me.

/edit:
Also I'm an avid follower of narrative first, but I still can appreciate the way Skyrim handles things. The game hands out quest and sends you into a dungeons and for a pretty long time, that worked for me (until I noticed the patterns a bit too much). But what makes Skyrim shine is how a simple voyage from place a to place b may wield unexpected results. Rarely do I actually reach place b, because along the way there's just so much to do and find that I get sidetracked.
And the game reacts to that as well, oftentimes I start off quests by randomly entering dungeons along the way.

Yeh, there's one at Skill Level 70. Never used block so I don't know how fast it'll be.
One way or another, I've given up on playing my mage. The scaling issues went from bad to "are you kidding me" and have now taken a dive to ridiculous levels. Spamming Thunderbolt (like 15 times per enemy) on normal Bandits is kinda stupid and non fun.

Instead, I've salvaged my mage into an arcane archer using the Bound Bow Spell and sneak attacking the enemies that cross my path. That will prevent me from doing a second playthrough but has resparked my fascination with the game.

I wasn't even responding to your post you fucking cry baby. You're so sensitive, you're like a fucking child. Get over yourself.

The price never changed, it was always 3.99/5.00 pre-order and 2.99 at the moment of release.

I don't know, proper manners don't seem childish to me, instead, they do seem quite contributive to a discussion. But perhaps you'd like to fling some more silly insults my way,  heck seems to be helping you with your anger management issues? It's okay, unwind. I don't break as easily as you. Smiley

See, just that second part of your post would have made a great contribution. Helpful, civil manner, great promise. And for that I kindly thank you. For the rest, well seems I'm here to help your issues I guess.

Nice excerpt from Ridicuallen: Chronicles of Nerdrage. Or was it the sequel "Hatemonger: The Tough Guy Returns"? Gentleman
Seriously though, unless you step off the hate pedal, all I read is "RAWWR ROAARRGH GRAWWWL AWHOOOOOOOOOFFF, GROWL, WOOF WOOF ROOORGAAARRGHHHH". There's a decent enough point in your posts, I reckon. I still won't buy things unseen and that's not me being an "asshole" as you so ineloquently put, but rather being conscious about my money (3€ isn't something to just cough up).

---

I wonder how long they'll do that pre order thing. Also the price has gone up since I last looked, does anyone know whether its just the exchange or whether they implented their price balancing thing?

91  Player / Games / Re: Indie Royale Bundles on: November 25, 2011, 04:37:50 AM
I didn't "preorder" it and I won't do so. In part because I seem unable to find any release date on that pre-order and past indie experiences have really burned my trust in terms of pre-order.
One way or another, one of the games is probably "Really Big Sky". What with the bundle name being Really Big Bundle and the hammered in wink about how the title refers to one of the games and not the quantity. Sight unseen in this case basically means buying it, without knowing what's inside. -> http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/sight+unseen

I'm an armored up level 10 Wood Elf.
I like my battle hammer.
Am I doing it right?

I don't know. Do you enjoy playing that way? If the answer is yes, then yes, you're doing it right.
93  Player / Games / Re: Skyrim on: November 23, 2011, 12:14:43 PM
The more I play skyrim, the more I wish the fight was at least like mount and blade. I can't stop thinking about mount and blade. The blend of the two would be marvelous, I'm not talking about huge battle (not yet), just some fighting and roaming.

While Mount and Blade had nice combat, I really loved the first person combat in Dark Messiah. But yeh, the combat irks me. It seems far too turn based for an action game somehow, if that makes sense. I think in part its because enemies don't properly feedback damage taken. If I hit a enemy head on with a giant two handed hammer and he doesn't even budge, it seems weird and detached.
But if I hit an enemy with few enough hitpoints for it to die, Skyrim suddenly switches on Ragdoll mode and lobs it all across the dungeon. Funny for the first couple times but quite the immersion breaker.

Still, I'm really loving the world. Just slam on some Metal (edit: For reference:

) and slay a dragon or two while laughing manically and charging head first into battle.
Although that only makes me wish for a remake of Rune (edit: Mind, not because of dragons but because of a nordic feeling) :|

Since the new patch broke LAA for now and thus turned my Skyrim into Crash-A-Ton, I find myself unable to play and reflect upon the game instead. One thing I've noticed is that weapons and armor seem to scale much better for fighters (melee/ranged) than for for mages.

Destruction Mages top out far faster than any other combination. Once I reached 100 destruction, my spells didn't get any stronger and they were pretty weak to begin with. Running out of mana after combating a single enemy is the name of the game here (even with equipment, buffs, restoration perk and stone signs to boost my magicka regen to roughly 600%).
So unless I level up enchanting and start abusing the happy Fortify Destruction Bug to get my magicka consumption to zero, I'm looking at grim perspectives for the continuation of my character, since he sure as hell didn't get any more power since 12 levels earlier, which is incidently when I maxed out the destruction tree. I've relied on summons as a backup plan but they too lose in power rather rapidly.

It's refreshing to have at least one place on the internet where you don't get killed for not liking every single aspect of the game. The hype is intimidating. Anyways, there's a rather annoying bug I'm suffering from that makes me wonder if there's a way to remove perks.
I'm talking about the Disintegrate Perk from the Destruction Tree. Not only does it trigger on any kind of damage, with people exploding into particles because I hit them with a dagger, it also screws up one quest after another.

It seems that when an enemy gets disintegrated, it disappears entirely. So everytime the game wants the beaten NPC to do anything, and be it triggering the next step in a quest, it can't do so because it no longer exists. I've now got to replay some encounters up to a dozen times and hope the stupid disintegrate effect doesn't trigger. Which kinda... sucks. :|

after defeating the dragon I noticed there were suddenly red hostile markers all over my radar... The entire town had gone aggro on me! I had no idea why; was it a stray arrow that didn't fly true or perhaps a shout that managed to hit one of the townspeople?

Happened to me too, figured I sprayed one of the novice destruction spells too liberally or something. In that vain, beware J'zargo at the College of Winterhold! His quest will have your companion turn on you rather unfairly. It's kinda stupid that there's no "I'm sorry" button. In a normal situation you'd just explain it was an accident. Also some locked containers aren't shown in red (like doors are), but the guards will aggro you anyway if you try to pick them, like display cases in markets.

I'll chime in. Although it seems to be a case of generally attacking anything in towns and poorly set factions. During one particular quest, I was forced to attack several monsters in a town, but everytime I did so, everyone instantly turned on me and killed me flat in a couple of seconds. I had to use summons to let them chip away at the health bit for bit as everything else led to my death. :|

There's a thing my editor once told me:
A mediocre writer will craft simple sentences with simple words. A decent writer will craft long and beautiful sentences with words long untold, magnitudes of prose and lyrics for the reader to unfold. But a true master of the pen however, will craft simple sentences with simple words.

Someone probably mentioned it already, but if you're having issues with the carrying capacity, activate the Steed Guardian Stone. It grants 100 Capacity and makes your equipped armor not count towards your total capacity limit.

Anyways, that'd be my character after about 18 hours of Gameplay.

It's a bug occuring while wielding two very specific items (which you get in the same quest) and doing the moonlight thing. But I rather like the bug.

Breton Mage, full on destruction and Conjuration. Includes a lot of running from enemies. Every once in a while it's the other way around.

/edit, thought this forum had a spoiler tag, sorry if anyone read it in the spare second it was there.

I'm wondering whether there is a bug in the games difficulty. When some say it's too damn easy I can only wonder what the hell they're talking about. I've got to run from any dragon I come across simply because it onehits me. Some dungeons I enter, I get beaten to death the second I meet the first enemy. Giants play Tennis with my body and Sabre Tooths eat me for dinner. And that's on adept. I don't know how it could be that much harder - a one hit kill is a one hit kill.
