We have generated a solve function which checks all randomly generated puzzles to see if they are solvable Smiley Might contain some bugs though, if someone encounters puzzles that are not solvable please let us know.

Thanks for the replies, I like the idea of pixelart...currently we actually just brute-force randomly generate all puzzles. We showed the windows version to some people (we have a windows opengl rendersystem too for debugging purposes) and those people didn't really seem to know how the game controls at the start. We decided to make a tutorial level then (we are working on this).

Our todo list also contains a map selection screen and making the controls a bit better.
The victory screen is also on our todo-list. We were also thinking of perhaps adding special blocks like blocks where only 2 blocks could be placed on. I'll update the first post with the controls till we have a tutorial Smiley

The score is actually the number of puzzles you completed. Thats why it shows high score submitted after each level.

I'm probably going to switch the clear block block for a undo-block, since the clear block is kinda useless when you uses the wrong block to push the other blocks further.

I also like the "scroll wheel" idea for the left bar, going to add that now. Smiley

Title: Block Shift (Android)
Target: Android (maybe iOS in the future)

Hello all,

A friend and I have been working on a project in the past two weeks, and we would like to invite everyone on tigsource.com to be a part of our beta test! Smiley
The game is called Block Shift. It is a 2d puzzle game, in which you "shift" blocks from the side of the screen to their designated place which can be seen on the minimap.
It is going to be a free game, with in-game advertising.
We are aware that the game has a couple of bugs (such as odd animations), we felt these bugs weren't serious enough to remedy straight away. Rest assured, we will fix these before the release on the Android Marketplace.
This is going to be our first release, and we are very excited.
What we would like from you: Feedback and criticism! We would like to know what you think of the game.
Also, any weird crashes or bug reports are appreciated.
If the game doesn't work on your phone, please let us know! The game is currently lacking sound, and we are still looking for a sound artist. (Anyone ? Tongue)
Download Link (to be opened on any device with Android (game is currently optimized for 800x480 resolution)): http://www.doublebluffstudios.com/Blockshift/Blockshift.apk
The game ofcourse contains scaling to support larger or smaller resolutions.
The game currently also contains OpenFeint integration with achievements and high scores.

The team-website is still a work in progress. We're learning on the go.
Thanks

Calvin and Kevin
Double Bluff Studios

Known Bugs:
It crashes when exiting the game causing it to not save map progress
For some reason it appears to have rendering bugs only on the Samsung Galaxy S, the S2 doesn't have this problem.

Controls:
Swipe the left bar to the top or bottom to "rotate" it further.
Swipe the blocks on the left to the right to place them.
Swipe clear block to the right to clear one block immediately after the clear block.
4  Hidden / Unpaid Work / Searching for 2D artist for Android Game on: June 09, 2011, 11:52:05 AM
Hello,

Me and a friend are currently in the process of creating an android game, but we still need an 2D artist for it. The game itself is basically a game where you see the boats from the side and need to "kill" the other player using cannons. We need someone to create the boats and upgradeable components since these obviously form a huge part of the game. The project will be unpaid but payment based on profit is being considered if we actually make money off this project. We just want to release a game to build up portofolio and such and we are looking for an artist who has similar goals. PM me if interested.

Thanks,
Calsmurf2904

PS: Me and my friend are both programmers and we are both from Holland. Artist from Holland would make it easier but isn't required.
5  Jobs / Offering Paid Work / Looking for artist on: July 24, 2010, 09:24:36 AM
Hello,

I'm currently in the process of developing a fully-modable multiplayer platform shooter, however all my graphics are made with paint by a programmer. Smiley
That's why I'm currently looking for an artist that is willing to help me.

The artist I'm looking for should be able to do 2d animated art, but also backgrounds and environmental stuff.

pm me or email me at projectxgame [at] gmail [dot] com for more info.
Please note, this is not paid work...however any profit made will be shared.

Hello Everybody,

My name is Calvin Baart, 17 years old living in the netherlands.
I'm currently programming in C++ for about 2 and a half year, previous experiences include PHP, HTML, SQL, AS3 and more.

I have never actually finished a game, but worked for a game company called AlienLogic for a while. I'm currently working on a fully-moddable (including gamemodes) multiplayer Platform shooter in 2D. This is my first time I actually touch DirectX. Smiley

I love playing games like L4D2, Little Big Planet and Saints Row 2 on PS3.
