absolutely beautiful, this has made my morning, great to hear you're using Unity as well.
2  Player / Games / Re: Ouya - New Game Console? on: July 03, 2013, 01:20:50 PM
i picked up a retail OUYA and really like it, was very skeptical!
Don't like the controller, I mean it works fine and maybe I'd get used to it, but I greatly prefer using one of my existing controllers.. and very impressed that you can do that (even wireless ones).
Overall I see a lot of potential value, I think the main thing is getting exclusives to OUYA that aren't just quick ports of existing mobile games, stuff that plays into the console + controller + tv feel.

Keep the player engaged at all times, don't worry about immersion.  It's like watching a movie in the theater, until someone sneezes or checks their phone.

other than that, create scratch and sniff technology for your game.

UPDATE
Really excited because I finally achieved my ideal dream goal of handling all the secretive mesh manipulation inside the vertex shader.  What this means is now instead of doing it slow in code with ridiculous numbers of drawcalls I've got it down to 1 drawcall with all the math happening in the vertex shader, super fast... smuggling position data and other stuff in via vertex colors.  Well, hello there!

more level design related updates soon...

devlogs are the best thing about the forums...
and in game development you spend weeks staring at the same shit all the time. Smiley

going pretty slow, which is surprising, maybe people just don't want this sort of game? or maybe the type of people who'd enjoy it aren't being correctly targeted?

Time Crisis clone, but 2d and with a different aesthetic. Lots of black with neon lines and plantlife mixed with technology. Like an overgrown facility in the middle of a sweltering jungle. Spooky corridor exploration (think Waxworks) before being ambushed by or engaging a group of enemies from cover, loads of simple but really satisfying animations, with a special focus on death animations, and a small variety of guns (maybe even a sword for when they get too close). Masked shock troops would be accompanied by the occasional tank-like mech that can walk and will scream or roar to intimidate the player. Environmental damage would include bullet holes, shredded plantlife, maybe even destruction of enemy cover like pillars with continued fire.

The beginning of level 3 of Perfect Dark would be an inspiration, namely the night vision effect and music.

I had a ton of notes for this but i lost them. Whatever, i mean if the ideas were good i will remember them.

I would play that and enjoy it !

I like Proteus Well, hello there!

been going through notes for the game and simplifying some things, also working on HUD/UI stuff in Vectrosity, it was being difficult but I think I've wrangled it under control.
Since I don't have any grafx to post, here's some weird notes pulled from intercepted packets...
