Jobs / Offering Paid Work / Translators needed for RPG (for small $ and credits)
|

I'm looking for people to translate a game and then test the translation (play through the game). Now let's talk about the business stuff first. It's for pay, but here's how it works. You won't become rich from this. For 3 months you'll get 100% of the profits from the region(s) in which the language is the national language or whatever, and if some region has a more than 1 (I'm thinking of French in Canada) you'll get 50% of that also. To be fair, I take the highest amount earned (I'm thinking French could possibly be that if someone decides to do that translation) and everybody gets that amount for their translation. So if you translate for a small region where not many people are likely to buy, you get the same amount as someone translating for a larger demographic. To give a figure, and this is not guaranteed or anything but people have already translated the game to some languages and they're making $24.06 CAD for May (they'll be paid for June and July also). For sales where I have no region data, the shares will be projected based on the regions where I do. So, I probably said most of what I need to say. The game is Monster RPG 2 [www.monster-rpg.com]. It sells on the iOS App Store, the Mac App Store, Ubuntu Software Center, and directly from my website ( http://www.nooskewl.com). One thing I should mention is that I don't know if I have or can find a suitable CJK font for Japanese/Chinese/Korean translations, but if I can those would be great. I'll check into it if anyone can provide such a translation. About the size of the job, there are 946 lines to translate, some of them are single words and some of them are small paragraphs. The English translation has around 35K characters. Next thing of note is that the next release of the game (You will be paid starting then) could take a while as I've got an artist retouching all of the player battle sprites in his spare time. On top of that, I get paid the month after the end of the selling month. So if the artist finishes in 2 months, you wouldn't receive any money until 4 months from now. Also should mention translator/testers will get translating/testing credits in the game too. Ok big ramblings over. Let me know, but please do not apply if you're not completely serious about finishing and doing a good job. Thanks.

Hidden / Unpaid Work / Testers needed for small reward

Hello, I'm looking for two beta testers, one Spanish and one German, to test an old school console style JRPG. What I'm mostly looking for is someone to play through the game and point out any major errors in the translations, such as spelling mistakes or overflowing text. If you want to point out other bugs in the game (it's been tested quite a lot so there aren't a ton of them), then I'll accept that too. I need dedicated people here. The game will take roughly 5-10 hours to complete and there are cheats available to make it easier. I'm looking for testers on Windows XP, Vista, and/or 7 right now. Please do not apply if you cannot complete such a job within a week. Now, for compensation, I can't do a whole lot, but I was thinking maybe $20USD by paypal or something like that. You can make me an offe., Having prior experience which you can prove to me may make it worth more to me... anyway the offer is $20 to play through the game, and I know it's not much, that's why I put it in unpaid. I'll also entertain offers. The game is this: http://www.monster-rpg.com. As I said it needs to be done within a week, and I'm mainly looking for translation errors. It shouldn't be too big of a job as the original translators are also testing the game currently. Should be an easy play through for people that enjoy this time of game (I'm told the game is HARD though I don't find it so so keep that in mind). Thanks

Hidden / Unpaid Work / [Deferred Pay] Need someone for Sound Effects
|
on: September 04, 2010, 04:43:15 PM

Hello,
Currently myself and a team of 6 others are working on a long term project, that will eventually go commercial. We need a skilled sound effects person. The team currently has 2 graphics artists, 3 musicians, 3 testers, and the last piece of the puzzle is someone for sound effects. I do not want someone who will take the responsibility really lightly. Our work environment and schedule is very lenient but I need someone who will come through with the assets in reasonable time when asked. We estimate the game will be finished in 2 years. Right now we have one large village completely mapped out, a big pile of music, probably about 20% of what we need, a first dungeon and just today I received a pile of NPCs from the artists. The game is an RPG but I will not discuss many details about it publicly, though I will happily give out detailed to seriously interested people (interested in the job, not the game). Everybody on the team receives either one or two shares of the profit, WHEN THE GAME IS RELEASED. Yes, that's why I'm posting this in unpaid, because you will not immediately receive money for your work. This job is a 1 share job, as most of them are. There is a small queue of sound effects that need to be started on "soon", and as we need them I will be contacting the person who gets the job and requesting additional sounds. This is a commercial quality game, so we need someone with good enough equipment and knowledge to do a good job. Platforms will include iPod/iPhone/iPad, PC/Mac/Linux (possibly through Steam if we can make a deal), and I will be getting an XBox 360 in the near future and porting to that so we can release on XBox Live Arcade. I feel like I'm rambling on, trying not to miss anything, which I probably will anyway, so I'm going to stop now. Looking forward to hearing your feedback and hoping there are some interested parties on these forums! (one of our musicians was found here). Thanks!

Hidden / Unpaid Work / Re: [shared pay] Need musician for oriental style rpg

Hello Javet!
A sample would be great. If you could pick one of the emotions I listed and make a tune to that, even if it's not full length that would be great. Also, I think 8 bit mixed with instruments would be great too. The other composer is using a semi-realistic sound, so I think pure 8 bit may clash too much (we want different styles, but it may be too much, not sure). If you need samples of chinese instruments I have 2 sample cds full, and I uploaded them for someone else already, so I can give you the link in PM if you wish. And ya, there is one other person vying for the position right now... He said he'll have a sample in a few days, so if you could match that you might get picked. I might even pick two people if they're both serious about finishing 10 songs...

Hidden / Unpaid Work / [shared pay] Need musician for oriental style rpg

Hello! I'm looking for someone to do 10 songs (based on given emotions, see below), for a commercial action/RPG (unique style, more details to the person who gets the job). I have one musician doing these same 10 songs, and I want to have two of each in different styles. Asian/oriental sample cds can be provided. Pay is based on profit we make. We divide profit by total shares then pay out by share. Musicians will get 1 or 2 shares based on skill level (to put that in perspective, I work 8-10 hours a day on this game and I'm in for 3 shares). This game will take an estimated 2-2.5 years to complete, but I'd like the music sooner that that. As far as credentials, I don't have much but have released one commercial game for iphone: http://www.monster-rpg.com. The team presently consists of me as programmer and general coordinator/miscellaneous jobs, two graphics artists, a musician, and I believe once we get the project into a respectable shape, a beta tester. Our other musician has just told me he cannot manage the workload anymore and that is the reason for this post. Target platforms are iPhone/iPad, PC/Mac/Linux/Steam, and (in our dreams) Nintendo Wii. Thanks for your time. emotions: ------- love hate frenzy peace sadness joy fear greeting mystery anger

Player / General / Re: iOS4 Launched Today

It's not a matter of having enough power, it's having enough to spare. iPod 2nd Gen has only 128 MB of memory. Now say there are some games in the App Store already that use right up near the maximum amount of memory on the device. Now install iPhone OS 4, and it takes 10MB extra memory. Bye bye to all those games that used to run. And I'm not certain but I think they would keep things like background image in memory at all times, since the flash on the ipods are quite slow and you wouldn't want to wait for it to load all the time. Just my thoughts on what I think is the reason.
