Also this is seriously counter-intuitive, but when we were shopping for the 10", the CHEAPEST place to buy it was friggin BEST BUY (if you are in the US). I dunno if this is still teh case, but it was pretty weird.

So we had a 9" which was a wonderful machine, but the keyboard was pretty shitty (apparently this is not the case on the newer 9s). However one of our pug dogs kicked the screen in, so we got a 10", which has a marvelous keyboard in comparison, and is still a highly portable machine. The 10" seemed to have newer software and OS as well, which primarily meant a much more stable version of the wireless. I am afraid I can't say much about the differences in the battery life though, not sure.

I think the main point of regret on their part is the months of inaction...I realize they have to be careful about what they do for both legal and reputation reasons, but at this point it's fairly clear that if certain people weren't brave enough to carry the torch for this thing (Corvus, Derek, etc), the board would not have addressed the scenario at all. It's taken two straight months of third party investigation to force the board to take any action at all.
I'm kind of in the same situation with a gym I used to attend. We are in the middle of a contract dispute, and the only thing that prompts any action from them at all is complaints to major agencies that can regulate or enforce their behavior. Only after reporting them to the local newspaper tipline did I even get a copy of the contract in question.
The IGDA reminds me of my scammy gym a lot. Doing the right thing, eventually, after the independent media and your membership have forced your hand, isn't really the right thing.

There are SIGs (and chapters) of the IGDA that are VERY active, but I think there is some question of the organization's validity if all they have to show for 15 years and 15,000 members is a book?
(I realize that is a slight exaggeration, but I think possibly still a valid point)

I am ok with criminalizing Tom because of his attitude toward the development community at large for the first full month after the story broke. What began as just childish insults and dick jokes soon grew to full-fledged condescension and spite for ALL developers, including at one point issuing an ultimatum for full disclosure of industry experience (of which, of course, he has none) in order to prove that the reasonable explanations of Langdell's actions were not the "ranting" of "teenagers".
He is, at best, very very bad with people, and definitely does not deserve to be representing actual game developers in any way. At worst he is a douchebag who is using the IGDA the same way as Langdell, to legitimize his otherwise questionable career with game developers who don't know any better.

The latest official IGDA email: Dear IGDA Members,
As many of you are aware, the IGDA website was recently exploited to send emails to members. This use of private data occurred in the context of a group's efforts to gain signatures for a petition. The day after the exploit we received the petition with signatures. The method used to gain these signatures has complicated an already complex situation. We have heard from those who feel they were justified in taking such measures, those who are concerned their privacy was violated, and many other perspectives, opinions, and concerns.
The debate over the issues at hand has had a negative impact on the association, and our ability to move forward on member programs and initiatives. Rather than continue a public and internal discourse on the circumstances and validity of the petition, Bob Bates and I have decided that the least damaging approach for the organization is to call a special membership meeting, as the co-Chairs may do as per the by-laws.
Since the IGDA does not yet have a policy for how to hold special membership meetings, at our Aug 5th meeting the Board chartered a Task Force comprised of IGDA Board members Tom Buscaglia and Coray Seifert, and at large members Darius Kazemi, Dustin Clingman and Brian Robbins, with the Executive Director acting in an advisory role to the Taskforce. The Taskforce will evaluate and recommend a policy regarding the methodology and procedures for holding special meetings of the membership of the IGDA, that serves the intent of the by-laws.
Once this course of action is established, it will be possible to fix the other details of the meeting, which needs to occur at least 35 days after the date is announced. We all share the goals of a fair and professional process that can let our organization move beyond this controversy, and I appreciate your patience as we work out the details.
Thank you, Tobi Saulnier Co-Chair IGDA Tobi was just appointed to co-chair from the position of treasurer a couple days ago, I believe. Also, I love that Buscaglia is leading this "task force".

Yea I agree with Eric and Gainsworthy, I apologize for posting such a short post but I am trying to brute force my current project into beta, so my responses have been a bit brief glad it's led to a vaguely helpful conversation though!

That article has my intense dislike of spending time on personal hygiene positively at war with my dislike of having to buy stupid hygiene shit all the time and desire to be manly. But changing over to a straight razor has been on my MANLY THINGS TO DO list for a while, so thanks for posting that article I'm gonna do it before the end of the year!

If you're cloning an existing game design, you need a coder, AND you need an artist...what exactly is YOUR role in the project? That comes off sounding kind of snide/uppity, but I'm genuinely curious!

May I ask how it's doing sales-wise? Don't need specific numbers, "well" or "awesome" would be acceptable! I assume you guys have started your next project as well? As for my Shatter playthrough, I think I scored about 65 meellion points on my first run, after getting crushed by clock-o-block. I played mostly with one ball, except at the bosses. After passing clock o block I scored another 65m or so over the next few worlds, still playing mainly with 1 ball. I actually turned the game off before I even used up all my continues because of this overwhelming feeling of a lack of consequence... I was usually missing balls not because I couldn't get there in time or because it was unexpected, but because I just couldn't control the paddle very well (this may totally be user-error!). But it didn't matter because I had apparently an unending supply of continues, and picked up 1-3 1UPs per board? I definitely had a distinct feeling that my choices or occasional skillful suck/blow trajectory tweaking (or occasional brutal mistakes) lacked significance, as I was likely to miss even a slow return bounce, but that would be evened out by a 1up anyways. Not trying to harp on it or anything, just eager to share my play experience with you guys! I'm listening to the soundtrack yet again this morning, it's great for work! Overall the level of polish and stability is well above most PSN releases, so thanks for making a cool game
