So are you supposed to be a rabbit, or a rabid?

Oooh, nice title  Beer!

Who in their right mind would call themselves the Pirate Party? Do these people want to be taken seriously?
Yes. It's working because they can use all kinds of fun pegleg-and-parrot logos, and let's face it, classic pirates are cool.

Heck, the UK has had a Monster Raving Loonie party for awhile.

We want to reclaim the word and turn it into something positive. Something like Captain Jack Sparrow, if you know what I mean? And it's more catchy than anything else we could have used for a name - "Anti-Copyright Party" just doesn't have a nice ring to it.
Good point. It's funny how "software piracy" has absolutely nothing to do with "piracy", neither with the "yohoho and a bottle of rum" kind, nor with the current affairs on the east coast of Africa; it's just a scare term invented by (supposedly) RIAA-type people.

Yeah, I call it the Helen Lovejoy effect.

I used to use Trillian, but after a few times when something got updated and it no longer worked, I just switched to IRC. I like it because everyone can just run it in their browser.

That's a very ominous name for a game.

If you make something idiot-proof, they'll invent a better idiot.

ah, must have been some other filesharing site that disabled US access -- i forget which one

Yeah, we need to fall back on RFC 1149 for filesharing.

Not gonna go into details but I'm god damn depressed and feeling pretty helpless to boot, I think I'll just go and lock myself in a room forever.

Hugs from me, too. I find that traveling is a good medicine, even if it's just driving to the next big city over.

I just read the first book of Y: The Last Man, and it's pretty cool.
31  Player / General / Re: What are you listening to at the moment? on: January 21, 2012, 08:13:11 AM
Cranberries.

Well, they're awesome live, but that doesn't happen too often, so I just stick with the old CDs on shuffle.

I like the sprites, but I think the blue-on-blue backgrounds would look better if they were more colorful.

Hey, this sounds pretty cool, and I was planning on visiting Cambridge this winter anyway.

I'm also 34 and mostly into coding.

This is a weird story. I wonder how many of the alleged crimes are real and how many are exaggerations. I mean, "conspiracy to infringe copyright", and "criminal copyright infringement", really?? I thought copyright was civil law.

Heh, I used to play this five years ago; good to see Magic is still going strong.

Okay, this sounds interesting, so please rate the name (and subtitle) for my platform game. Thanks!

Bump Smiley

I've created an updated version, with improved jump physics and graphics, vertical scrolling, more enemies, several more levels, and a boss monster. Oh yeah, and with secrets and unlockables too. Hey, game design is fun!

Check the top post for details, and comments are welcome!

Should just be moved to announcements, shouldn't it? Anyways.. this looks pretty neat. I'll have to check how much I have in my paypal.

Yes, I think so. Sorry about that, I'll ask a mod to move it. I hope you enjoy the games, I've just started playing three of them.

http://www.agsbakesale.com/

The Bake Sale is a set of fourteen indie games made as a fundraiser for the charity Child's Play. You can decide for yourself how much you're willing to pay (with a minimum of $1.50 for the entire set) and the money will be sent to Child's Play.

Since this started in the AGS community, the games are all made in Adventure Game Studio. The majority of the games are adventure games, but the set also includes a platform game, a top-down shooter, and some other genres.

Visit the above website for details.
