Who in their right mind would call themselves the Pirate Party? Do these people want to be taken seriously?
Yes. It's working because they can use all kinds of fun pegleg-and-parrot logos, and let's face it, classic pirates are cool. Heck, the UK has had a Monster Raving Loonie party for awhile. We want to reclaim the word and turn it into something positive. Something like Captain Jack Sparrow, if you know what I mean? And it's more catchy than anything else we could have used for a name - "Anti-Copyright Party" just doesn't have a nice ring to it.
Good point. It's funny how "software piracy" has absolutely nothing to do with "piracy", neither with the "yohoho and a bottle of rum" kind, nor with the current affairs on the east coast of Africa; it's just a scare term invented by (supposedly) RIAA-type people.

I used to use Trillian, but after a few times when something got updated and it no longer worked, I just switched to IRC. I like it because everyone can just run it in their browser.

ah, must have been some other filesharing site that disabled US access -- i forget which one
Yeah, we need to fall back on RFC 1149 for filesharing.

Not gonna go into details but I'm god damn depressed and feeling pretty helpless to boot, I think I'll just go and lock myself in a room forever. Hugs from me, too. I find that traveling is a good medicine, even if it's just driving to the next big city over.

This is a weird story. I wonder how many of the alleged crimes are real and how many are exaggerations. I mean, "conspiracy to infringe copyright", and "criminal copyright infringement", really?? I thought copyright was civil law.

Bump I've created an updated version, with improved jump physics and graphics, vertical scrolling, more enemies, several more levels, and a boss monster. Oh yeah, and with secrets and unlockables too. Hey, game design is fun! Check the top post for details, and comments are welcome!

Should just be moved to announcements, shouldn't it? Anyways.. this looks pretty neat. I'll have to check how much I have in my paypal.
Yes, I think so. Sorry about that, I'll ask a mod to move it. I hope you enjoy the games, I've just started playing three of them.

Community / Townhall / AGS Bake Sale: desiging games for charity

http://www.agsbakesale.com/ The Bake Sale is a set of fourteen indie games made as a fundraiser for the charity Child's Play. You can decide for yourself how much you're willing to pay (with a minimum of $1.50 for the entire set) and the money will be sent to Child's Play. Since this started in the AGS community, the games are all made in Adventure Game Studio. The majority of the games are adventure games, but the set also includes a platform game, a top-down shooter, and some other genres. Visit the above website for details.
