Tascha, i totally agree with your comment!
Btw, does gamebizwire still exist? I cant find any info anymore...
I think they're gone...the website is missing and emails to their PR team come back as undeliverable.

To be honest, I think that press releases are wasted time and money these days. At least for indies.
Had it not been for a press release via GameBizWire I did for my latest game, I would have never gotten the Giantbomb quick look that immensely helped boost sales and traffic. So I respectfully disagree.

Something I found interesting...just tried submitting a game to Steam for release at the end of August, and they said to wait for Greenlight and post it on there. So apparently they've stopped all indie submissions (perhaps since Greenlight was first announced), when I had assumed they'd stop after Greenlight was launched. Huh.

Saw Dark City (directors cut) again the other week, and it's still absolutely amazin'. The atmosphere is unmatched.
Something to be said about practical vs CGI, I suppose.

I feel like it's slightly scummy tossing the word indie around like that with the bigger games in the bundle, but ah well.

I'm playing Deus Ex : Human Revolution. It might not top the original (perhaps it can surprise me on the later levels, but I doubt it), but it's still damn good for what it is. My only complains are pretty much the bosses, the removal of the body part damage system and the emotionless faces during dialog (they don't seem to change their expressions even when they are getting worked up), but everything else is excellent.
Just got that on the Steam sale, need to try it out! I thought they patched up the bosses a bit so it's not so bad?

Jobs / Offering Paid Work / [Filled] Looking for male/female voice over for a small part
|
on: June 26, 2012, 07:45:14 PM

I need two voice overs for a small part in an indie PC game I'm currently making. (filled) The first is for a female voice, who will be the main voice over for a faux tv show and will be the "omniannouncer" for the game (such as "10 seconds left." and "welcome to the show" type stuff.) The amount of recording/lines is about 3 small paragraphs worth.
(filled) The second is a male voice who is more scruffy, a type of ninja-like person who's been awaiting a challenger and knows the secrets of life. They will have a bit of a longer set of lines but the overall project will also be 3-4 small paragraphs worth. Both voices will be paid via Paypal or any other method you'd like, and I'd love to get a demo of your voice to see if it fits what I have in mind. You'll need to have decent recording equipment so it sounds more natural and less "cheap webcam microphone" quality. I'll be recording both voiceovers so you can understand the kind of style I'm looking for, so it won't be a completely blind job. You can find out more about me at my site, www.vertigogaming.net, and contact me there or a PM here for more info. Thanks!

Its weird, but I always set up a schedule/deadline for the days when I'm coding. I make them easy to achieve and add a few more that I'm not sure I'll get to.
When I don't set up deadlines for myself I feel a little more lost for some reason, hah.

Thanks for the kind comments. I don't think SOG would be Royale material, as it's a pretty basic port/upgrade compared to some of the more elaborate remakes. But hey, I'd love to be a part of the Indie Royale, so who knows what'll happen. :D

Noooo mah mug! Thanks everyone for the feedback! I'll definitely be more concise in the tutorial I'm making for the game.

payment on delivery has allways worked well for me. IE
"I need these 3d models with these specs by this date I pay 650.00$"
No models no money
Yeah, I always start out like this with new contracts. Then on the next project I let them invoice me when they need to. I'm also one of the guys who can freak out over a 48 hour period of silence, hah. Sorry to hear about your woes.

I like typing games a la Typing of the Dead. This was kinda neat, kept getting V/U confused though. Nice style.
