Uh wow I don't even remember making this post This is why your password should be complex, so that you can't log in while drunk.

To tag them and make them searchable by artist and theme. If we are going to create an archive of resources, it should have its own website (or at least a section of its own, independent from the blog and the forums).
I'd forgotten about that. I'd guess then that you'd need a database that stored a table of records, each of which is made up of a link, artist, theme and type (image, sound, game) and then you just allow people at add new records and query for existing ones. When you type it out like that, it almost sounds simple.

Assemblee was awesome! Why not make that an annual compo? Doesn't have to have a set time every year, just have it once a year, timing can vary year to year.
I agree and if not on tigsource maybe someone should set it up as a yearly event on its own site? not even yearly, like every 4-6 months SOMEONE MUST DO THIS RABBLE RABBLE What would you need for an Assemblee website anyway? Is it much more than a big list of links to images, sounds and finished games?

I'm all for new stuff, but to go from 0 to Game in 3 hours with an entirely unfamiliar technology sounds pretty mind-melting. Perhaps I should familiarise myself with something first. What's the current tool of choice amongst you crazy fast-game-making mofos?
I personally use Flixel, but I'd recommend looking at Flixel, Flashpunk and maybe Unity before the jam if you can. (Says the man who has never been to one.)

Rolled out of bed late and then bought those eggs I forgot.
Core, have you tried dual booting? That's what I do and it seems to work fine for me.

Today I made simple procedural terrain generation for a Flixel game I'm making! It's just a v.simple hack involving prefab perlin noise methods from Flash and then cramming that into a FlxTilemap but it produces fairly good caves which I can work from to produce underground worlds of wonder and danger.

It cheapens (or removes) the experience of overcoming a skill based Wich means it's only a good idea if you want to play the game in a completely casual way. Yeah. I don't think there's really that much to say on the subject tbh. Cheaters in single player games are just playing in a different way to non-cheater whereas cheating in a multiplayer game are affecting other peoples experience of the game in a negative way. I'm not sure that there is much more to say really.

Man, I love the concept of Spaceship Artemis. We need to do a TIGS meetup just to play this.
I'm sure that Spaceship Artemis could represent a new genre. I wonder if you could make a game like that and then tour relevant conventions with it? Also, I've just got a basic flocking behavior prototype done for my final year uni project.

it doesn't affect anyone but the cheater. Helping him to pass previously unsurmountable odds, or giving a feeling of power-- usually enriching his/her experience.
Unless you are playing the game in a completely casual manner, this only cheapens the experience. It cheapens (or removes) the experience of overcoming a skill based challenge but that's not the only thing people play games for.

I'd would be so up for this! Does anyone know a cheap place to stay in London? I've got a mate who I might be able to crash with but if that fails it would be nice to know about a backup.

Having both a mini fridge and a tiny kettle (bright pink for bonus points) so that you can roll out of bed and have coffee!
