1  Jobs / Collaborations / Re: Looking to collab on a not quite serious game. on: May 23, 2013, 02:01:44 AM
Could you show some examples of your graphics?
That would make it easier to suggest a collaboration.
2  Jobs / Offering Paid Work / Re: [SEEKING] Any work available! (Details inside) on: April 23, 2012, 07:59:36 AM
There is an Unpaid Work section.

It can be moved by an administrator. Or just open a new thread there, and ask for an administrator to close this thread.

By the way, if you are also available to provide graphic art, you should probably show some samples of what you are able to do.
3  Developer / Playtesting / Re: I wanna remake my old game, IS IT WORTH IT? on: March 17, 2012, 05:04:05 AM
I agree, you should start a different new project.
Anyways, if there is something you like about the game mechanics, you can use it again.

And it's true the first map is not fun. Test the maps in your new project and make them with progressive difficulty.

I guess you don't have any previous game to show what you can do. Showing some examples would be a good idea.

However, you could tell more info about the project: What programming language would you use? What game genres are you thinking about?
5  Hidden / Unpaid Work / Looking for vector artist on: November 09, 2011, 06:01:18 PM
I am a programmer making a fast flash game, and I need someone who can make some vector graphics with Adobe Flash. I would need some monsters, backgrounds, and some items.

The game mechanics will be a bit

.

This is a short project, and there is not any experience needed in making games. Just someone with a bit of skill and who wants to collaborate to make a game.
6  Hidden / Unpaid Work / Beta Tester And Level Designer Needed on: May 18, 2011, 11:16:02 AM
I am looking for someone who wants to collaborate with me in a 2D platform game made in flash that I am working on. I have the engine, most of graphics, and some levels, but still working on it.

If someone wants to help with one or all of these things:
-Beta tester, just playing to find bugs or wrong things in levels
-Make levels with a map editor (my own)
-Brainstormig to improve the game

If there is someone interested, just send me a personal message, or mailme to [email protected]
No experience needed! Thanks!

I could be wrong, but I think the binary is updated.  Shocked I have tested again and again, and now it works with Arrows=move,  C,V=turn
Try to refresh your internet browser, maybe it is remembering with cache file... but that would also be strange, as I have changed the url of the link.
... or maybe there is a time paradox and you are reading the new changes today, but you are playing the game yesterday in another universe... That would be a much more funny explanation!  Grin

You are right. I had updated the links from the first post, but not the one in the last post.  Giggle

FINISHED: Changed keys (Move=Arrows | Rotate= C, V  | Shoot=Space). I chose the keys to rotate, C and V because the are quite close to Space. I was not happy with WASD and arrows. Also speeded explosions, added music and some minor changes.

I have tested how to improve the client-side prediction, and adapt it with ping time, but the results were not very succesful. Now there is not time for improvement with the deadline, but I will try to improve next versions.

Thanks eigenbom and moonmagic!! Your tips were a great help!
And thanks to Nathaniel Edwards for the music!

Updated: Now it's quite playable. Added a score system, lateral movement, laser to aim, and faster explosions.
Also added dummy robots, but the game is much better when there are several players online (the AI robots are not very clever).

I know the speed is not very fast, but that's the limit speed to play real time online. If I try to speed it up, things happen at different moments for different players.

Now you can shoot an play with other users. I update the game when I improve it.

I wanted to make dummy enemies controlled by AI, but that's much work, so probably I won't do it. So you need to play against another player online.

It would be great if several players test it at a time, and have some feedback about gameplay, ideas for improvements and so on.

ROBOTIC MELEE

A simple multiplayer online game with robots and explosions.

You can play on web browser, it's made with flashpunk. Play here. (Move=Arrows | Rotate= C, V  | Shoot=Space)
If you want to test it, open several windows of the game, to see several robots moving around.

It will not be the best game of this competition. I just want to make my first MMORTS game (although maybe not very Massive, not much Real Time and not much Strategy   Tongue).

Moving Tombstone Bug: If you press X key, not releasing the space bar, the character dies and the tombstone keeps on travelling forever.

Obviously I had not a weapon, so I just was trying to jump. Grin

Thank you all for the good and bad comments, and thank you Soulliard for your large review. I was aware of most of the weak points:
-Lack of music.
-The game should be controlled with less buttons and clicks.
-The AI is not very clever.
-Stalemate happens too often.
-Not difference between levels.

I was not really aware of the graphics and colours were really so bad! I did not spent a lot of time, but I was very proud about my pieces! Grin I first tried with white and black, but that contrast made strange visual effects.

I changed the concept, abandoned the game for several weeks, and remade it again too fast... so I finally had no time to improve all that weak points. However I think you can play several matches and enjoy.

I love someone has laughed with the quotes between battles! I had fun writing them!

Thank you guys for all your comments. You were right, the game was not very playable, so I changed the concept of the game.

I had no time to add all I wanted to do, but the deadline is there so I post it now.

CHESS WITH BLOOD: Old rules are over!
Inspired by:
If you don't like blood, this is not a game for you. Grin

The inspiration is from this web: http://fx.worth1000.com/contests/13634/beta-busts-6/4

I am making this isometric game, powered by FlashPunk. There are chess pieces and of course there is some blood, but it is not a chess game.
Basically you have to crash with the enemy pieces as strong as you can, and this is how the gfx look like:

And this is a link for the DEMO:
Play here the New Version      Controls:  Mouse

Old Version Controls:  arrows or Mouse

Any FEEDBACK will be appreciated!
