41  Jobs / Offering Paid Work / Re: Graphic Artist for 2D Jump'n'Run Game (Cartoon style, not pixel art) on: November 28, 2014, 07:25:49 AM
How about posting the style/inspiration list here?
I'm sure you'd get better and more accurate replies if people were aware of whether "cartoon style" meant "Alien Hominid" or "Shank" or "Rayman Origins"...
42  Developer / Art / Re: GIFs of games being worked on on: November 18, 2014, 01:46:41 PM
Not exactly being worked on, more like a Game Jam project that didn't go anywhere. Pity, really...

Well, here's the protagonist sprite at least!
idle
walk
swing
Alucard-style backdash
knockback
43  Jobs / Collaborations / Re: [Paid] Seeking 2D artist for turn-based fantasy RPG on: November 18, 2014, 01:32:21 PM
I'm just asking if I may - anime/console/16-bit style or literal D&D orcs'n'elves Western style?

Just dropped in to say GODDAMN, those graphics!
Absolutely brilliant! Setting the bar high there. Smiley

Just thought it would be interesting to post this (and because Chasm Alpha was released today). Left one is from 1 year ago, right one is Dan's revamp animated by me (:

Great, but don|t be lazy with the club. Right now, it's bouncing freely. In reality it needs to rest on (=be attached to) the main body, with the hand sort of keeping the connection. Basically the heavier you make the club feel, the better the animation IMO. Smiley

AlexHW, that's sweet as hell.
I love the green shining through everywhere, like a primed canvas. Definitely something that makes for a super-recognizable style.

I feel so bad posting this here, you people are so good. Anyway I am making a minimal character for a platformer.
Which one is fine  Undecided?

The last one!

Mainly because he's the cutest and has basic facial features, but also because he doesn't immediately look like bonks-his-head-a-lot form Bit Trip Runner.

Serving up two more portraits for this one private thing, same as the ones before.

Would totally join you guys if it weren't for a long-ish train trip exactly on that weekend.

Hoping to be there for the next gig!

This really shouldn't belong anywhere in the vicinity of us mortals.

It's almost somehow a relief it's partly a product of technical ingenuity, though honestly I'd feel guilty copying your technique... (You're super generous for sharing!)

Just keep an eye on the meetup page, the next date meeting has already been announced.
The jam went splendidly, were already debating the next one.

55  Community / Jams & Events / Frankfurt Game Jam #1 - one-day mini jam this Friday (15th)! on: August 12, 2014, 12:45:22 PM

Hi jammers anywhere in or around Germany!
Here's a quick announcement for a Mini Jam in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

Where? - Kruppstraße 105, Frankfurt. Look for the SANID office!
Map: https://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=Kruppstra%C3%9Fe+105,+Frankfurt,+de

What day? - Friday, August 15th (Friday this week)

When? - Doors open at 12:00 (noon), jamming for around 12 hours until ~1:00 (1AM)

What's it about? - So far we're shooting for a digital Game Jam. Many first timers here, no contest pressure, just find people, create something nice or just hang around and chat!
We can accommodate ~14 people, just check on meetup regarding availability!

Meetup group: http://www.meetup.com/Independent-Game-Developers-Rhein-Main-Meetup/
Ask questions and get all the infos there!

...Oh, and as the logo says, this is our first jam. We do have a roof, Wi-Fi, tables and power, but expect a rustic atmosphere and potentially, uh, organic procedures. Bring motivation, heart and an open mind!

*Foreign speakers are welcome! Us are of gladly speak good English.

Thank you very much for this site, it seems well curated and looks splendid to boot!

No idea how you do it, but it's a super useful tool even when you don't have time to jam, and just want an inspiring glance at what's happening in the world!

Thanks for the nice words! Great to hear no "Blarg he's old and ugly" Smiley

And since modern gaming is big on this thing, I made a female version as well. Turns out ladies offer a completely different challenge drawing:

For anyone interested, I made a progression this time. Click for full size!

Did we ever follow up on that deconstructivist version?

59  Developer / Art / Re: show us some of your pixel work on: July 21, 2014, 04:12:35 PM
Although I'm not finding any time to do private stuff at the moment, I really wanted to do a style test for a possible private project. Sometime in the future.

I think you can even see veeeeeeeeery subtle art indications that I started playing Persona 4 Golden if you know what to look for.

This weekend was game jam time (2-day InnoGames in Hamburg), and I was finally able to do some shit for myself outside of projects! Smiley
