Alan Wake, Left 4 Dead, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Dead Rising, I believe COD4 had an expansion or something for it, zombies were in World of Warcraft, Stubbs the Zombie, House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, even Halo has zombies, there are so many fucking zombie games. So if it's just going to be slow, grunting canon fodder, don't do it. But! if you happen to do something new with it, like... Typing of the Dead kinda stuff, go for it!

$6 * 12months *10 years = $720, so how does $714 mean a 45% discount? (dreamhost)

What's soooo bad about subtitles that you'd want to give up the worlds best voice actors' performance for it?
I feel horrible each time I try to look up a trailer or scene from a great anime and it turns out it's americanized.
Trailer looks alright, but it doesn't get me pumped, maybe the last few Miyazaki films didn't really impress me, some film about a farmer, a girl who wouldn't talk and a dude finding a cursed sword(that reminds me of Ico). I loved Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Porco Rosso, Nausicaa((of the Valley)of the Wind), but I didn't like Howl so much, and I can't really say why exactly from memory.

Don't feel like you're the one and only person to see it's faults, and because it won a high profile prize, you have to put it down. We know it's not perfect, but I'm glad it was made and I was able to play it.
If you don't like this game, don't play it. No need to bitch on a game for not meeting your standards, when it obviously wasn't aiming to be that type of game.

Haven't played Seiklus, or the demo, but I did play the full game, and I can tell you there are space moose and you fly to the moon at some point.
Seriously though, it's a one hour game, it's 5 bucks, and it won the grand IGF prize, which is what actually made me buy it.
It is a game about collecting these giant objects, building your tower, so you can get to new places all the time. The most fun is in discovering what each piece of fruit does, and also collecting the most tucked away objects. I just mainly got out of it that it was a funky, short, sweet little experience, which was worth it to play, but I'll probably won't return to.
So if you don't like that, don't buy the full game.

Love what you guys do normally, but this is no fun. Dragging around boxes, characters popping up trying to say something funny but not being funny. Besides, I don't have time to look at them while I actually play the game. The music is alright, but besides all that, what is there to the game? This game developed in 6 weeks right? I say spend a little more time on the concept before producing it.
The games were better with the random ridiculousness in it, that's really the only redeeming value to them for me. Because most of those games are just as simple as this latest one.
Looking forward to the next one already, cause this one sucked.

I don't know how much this will add to the discussion, I just saw the title and remembered this cool clip from the movie Waking Life on the subject. It's a 3 min clip of philosopher David So (great name for a philosopher: so?)
just thought it was a cool clip

Each fruit has a different purpose, but I can't really figure out what the animals are for yet, or how to cultivate them. When you beat the game you get to see some work in progress stuff that show the meaning/motivation behind the game I guess.

Games that are like it, or at least share a common theme: Pikmin, Dyson, Samorost, Crayon Physics Deluxe, Knytt Stories. It has some technical difficulties(framerate, sometimes collision) It's a bummer, because besides the steep requirements, it's a really approachable game play-wise. It is a short game to "finish"(takes about an hour, maybe more) The eco system is really something fun to discover and toy with. Sadly, the game tends to be a bit trial and error. The game requires the Home Key, so if you play on a laptop without one, you can't finish it. Wonderful game, worth its price, I'd try the demo if you're not sure about your systems specifications. The game takes 95mb, not the advertised 40. I liked it because it was different, not really stuck to conventions of genres or easily compared to a specific game.

Wait a second, it requires you to press the home key? I'm using a macbook pro here, so I guess I just can't play the game then?
Don't most laptops lack a home key?

Fullmetal Alchemist, god I love that show. Almost the entirety of the Animatrix. Gonna second that Miyazaki comment, my favorite being Spirited Away(Chihiro's Journey).
And I'm not even an anime fan(atic), go figure. The japanese just have a great eye for detail I guess...
