I'm surprised by Desktop Dungeons being a grand prize finalist, since i didn't think so much of it, but will go check it out soon.
Also found it quite an achievement for Nidhogg to be nominated for both Grand Prize and Nuovo, as they seem to be almost opposites.

Otherwise I'm still looking forward to playing Miegakure and Nidhogg myself.

What about you guys and girls?

I don't care that this is an old topic. I just bought the game because it was only 5 euros. Played plenty of just the demo, which is fully featured, just limited to 1 map and 2 modes, and you're able to play online.

Go try or buy it, on my recommendation.

it's footage.
like the last one.
the one before that was the only trailer.
I count 2 trailers in total

I like have you turned in theory a quite easy concept into a really cool game.
Defenetly a buy once it arrives.
definitely
de-finite-ly
there you go.

It took me 5 minutes to get the hang of the basic mechanics.
I then spend 10-15 minutes figuring out what the actual goal was, or at least what got me some progress, (so the soul bit). Then my computer came to a crawl as I started guiding the neurons around the rest of the brain, I did finally beat it, but it took me a very long time. (or it was just very hard for me)

I love the aesthetic of the game. And on a conceptual level it's quite neat.
I was only a bit disappointed with the conclusion, after guiding the glowy neurons through all sections of the brain and finally into the stem.

It's really cool in that it's confusing as hell, like any brain would be.
I don't have any suggestions on what you could've done with it otherwise, but I wished there were more substance.

Thanks anyway!

Saw this http://maiconmcn.tumblr.com/post/1669091480/alphabeticalposter on kotaku, so I made this:

larger (1.5mb) version: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/599805/ABC.png

Criteria were which games were most interesting, not most polished. I also left out some of the most popular games, like cave story and minecraft in favor of highlighting more obscure ones.

The wiki is currently suspended I suppose, with the new datadump at least Paul is figuring out how tricky it is to get it working at the same level as the original.

We've got a datadump today surprisingly! http://tig.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Statistics

interesting that there were / are only 300 folders but 391 entrants, but perhaps not all entrants are pc download (some might be mobile phone games / iphone games / etc.)
Quote
In total, this year's Main Competition took in just under 400 game entries -- many of them new titles from leading indie developers -- across all platforms.

This includes 150 entries for mobile hardware like the iPhone, iPad, DS, PSP and Android devices, with all mobile entries now eligible for all IGF 2011 prizes, including a unique Best Mobile Game award.

It's hard to listen to something that's been silent for 8 weeks, now isn't it?
