You're creating something close to a "dream game" for me:  a procedural RPG with a tropical setting.  It looks wonderful.  A few questions:
  • Are there infinite islands to sail to and explore?  How will sailing work?
  • How do these dungeons compare with the enormous generated dungeons of Daggerfall?
  • Will you charge for this game?
  • Have you considered an open-source license for the game?  If so, there are many resources at OpenGameArt that could help you.  For instance, here are some plants: http://opengameart.org/search/art?keys=plant
  • What kind of music do you have planned?  If you're looking for someone to handle the music, I might volunteer my services.

But that is fanatism, that's not religion.

What a bizarre semantic game to play.  And what are they fanatical about, pray tell?  Is it bowling, or soap opera?  I really doubt that those fanatics would have incentive to kill homosexuals.  Or is it religion, maybe even  a religion with a holy book that calls homosexuals abominations in the eyes of god and claims that a witch should not be suffered to live?  I guess no one ever told these fanatics of yours to pretend that the really vile parts of their scriptures don't exist.

I can't imagine Newton burning a kid because he thought he was a witch.

As I said, this is irrelevant.  That some believers are nice doesn't change the fact that religion is the obvious impetus for all this.

The idea that religion is not a major component in this unbelievable bullshit is plainly false: Americans’ Role Seen in Uganda Anti-Gay Push

The fact that not all religious people are murderous bigoted scum isn't really relevant.  That some believers are nice doesn't change the fact that religion is the obvious impetus for all this, and, at least in the country from which I'm posting, you won't be fined or killed for saying it.

And just in case you wondered what else was going with religion in that part of the world:

Yes, you'll probably get in trouble if you draw a picture of Mohamed but you probably deserve becuase what other reason do you have than to piss some Muslims off? And that makes you just as arrogant as any of them.

You really believe a person should be fined the equivalent of almost $36,000 US dollars for drawing a picture of a religious figure?  Really?

This is the 21st fucking century.  Laws should protect people, not ideas.  Religious suppression of social commentary of any sort is so obviously bad that I can't believe I see people in favor of it.

If you're interested in the widespread and casual discrimination against atheists in the US here are a few interesting links:

Welcome to the last year of subsidized time.

I'd love to see a game made from it, but I'm no programmer.  Ideally, all resources (graphics, sound, music) would be derived from public domain sources, and it would combine many art styles and cultures.  It should also be pretty opulent, i.e. high-res graphics (I scaled the mockups down to post them here) and audio files for music (probably PD performances of classical pieces).

This is the kind of fighting game I'd love to see.  All components are public domain:

In case it's unclear, this is not my work.  I'm just posting about it here because it's a very fine indie game.

I think it's a little more surreal than that.  And there are awesome clay-based sprites:

A free FPS called Harmony has been released.  It's reminiscent of a 90's shareware FPS in the best way and is very fun.  You can get it here: http://rabotik.nl/harmony.htm

Please remember that, whatever their recent activities may have been, they made Rise of the Triad, Duke Nukem 3D, and Shadow Warrior, and were therefore pretty great.

I think The HUNT Begins (shareware) had better maps than Dark War, but I really like the convoluted final boss level in Dark War.  I agree that it seems like the developers had a lot of fun throwing in whatever sounded cool, which is a development strategy that has definitely been left by the wayside.  Speaking of which, you forgot Dog Mode, 'shrooms, the baseball bat, and the very literal God mode!

As I said Radiohead's when I started getting into good music. Before that it was horrible classic rock and bad pop groups that ignorant people listen to, thinking they where listening to the brave, outer fringes of music. Then I realized how wrong I was.

I really don't want to sound like an elitist, but are you asserting here that Radiohead represents the "brave, outer fringes of music"?
No. That place scares me.

But haven't you ever met someone who thought their taste in music was edgy because they listened to The Police or some garbage like that?

Okay.  Yeah I'm definitely with you there.

Wouldn't "Space Out" be a better title?

This is promising!  Have you considered the possibility of also using Heretic resources, considering the obvious overlap?

I picked this game up at a thrift store for $3 last weekend but haven't had a chance to play it yet.  It looks really awesome.
