I'm very fond of:
Aguirre, the Wrath of God The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser Gozu Dead or Alive 2 Funny Games (original; I haven't seen the remake) Blue Velvet Mullholland Dr. Unforgiven The Gates of Hell (aka City of the Living Dead) Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia TERMINATOR 2
I also like the work of Stan Brakhage a lot.

F Zero X still has the best soundtrack of any racing game ever.
It's really great, though I think it might be tied in my mind with the soundtrack to Wave Race 64. That system had awesome music.

Melody is bassdrum (EP)1. Vivid Melody (160pbm, Tribal Noisecore, 3 42 min) 2. Manic (180pbm, Noisecore, 7 10 min)
The only thing I have is, that it's really hard to classify multi-genre music. I made this very short, EP-like thing which features fast, technotic rythms with slightly epic, short melodies and walls of noise. So, call it Noisecore light (the first title has some Tribal drums, so it's Tribal Noisecore. Tribalcore!). But there's definitly a lot of fast headphone hardcore in it, I haven't tested it with normal speakers. I'm a bit proud of it. The first music from me I can hear several times without getting annoyed and/or bored. Oh, and theres a relative old song I uploaded the last weeks: Rain. It's my personal interpretation of the "Stalker" movie by Andrei Tarkowski. Kekskiller, I listened to all the stuff on your page and I really enjoy it. My biggest criticism would be the string part in "Seal", which is pretty predictable and less interesting than the more abstract stuff.

Made a decorative rock as addon for one of my old projects: It doesn't do anything, but prettify the landscape ... and causing additional costs if the player wants to build something there. I want to see more of this game.

Yeah! Fuck music that sounds good! Let's all listen to Lightning Bolt and Merzbow and appreciate how different they sound from everything else!
I'd like to stay out of this discussion except to say that many people listen to Merzbow and other noise artists because their work sounds good, and that these people are very likely to listen to pop, rock, jazz, reggae, etc. as well for the same reason.

Cryptonomicon.
I read this for the second time a few months ago. It's really good and fun. I've read several books by Stephenson, including the complete Baroque Cycle, and I think Cryptonomicon is his best work.

I'm reding Oliver Sack's 'Musicophilia'. I read this last summer. It's pretty fascinating, but ultimately just kind of light reading.

I'm reading Infinite Jest by the recently deceased David Foster Wallace <3 I am also currently reading Infinite Jest, about half way through so far. I'm enjoying it thoroughly. I'm on my fourth reading of Infinite Jest right now. It gets better every time! Before that, I read Herzog on Herzog, which is book of interviews with Werner Herzog about his work.

Super Hang-On has some real fucking heartbreakers: Columns has very fine pseudo-baroque music: Comix Zone has awesome derivative grungy riffing and some great melodies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YG1PBcQsoUIhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNkTPVeHsFk&feature=relatedApparently the composer, Howard Drossin, did "real" arrangements (with vocals and lyrics) that sound even more like Nirvana. It's out-of-print, but a Google search should get you a link soon enough. Compare these two: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWr-rD3nS-g&feature=PlayList&p=C1C90DAB773C2141&index=6http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcnO6puwyPE&feature=PlayList&p=0565473E81A2247B&index=1Shinobi 3 has UNBELIEVABLY funky music, and really displays Sega's great drum samples: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdzSGpEXGo4&feature=relatedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqP_q3o-hZ4&feature=relatedThe Turrican games are full of fucking heartbreakers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20tshGWBYHAhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8laT12p_MoQuest for Glory IV has a mournful, Slavic-influenced soundtrack that is exquisite (The chord structure and soloing in the theme is very similar to a section of one of the above Turrican pieces, incidentally): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCGDXGl6HtkDaggerfall also had sublime music, much better than later TES games, which just rip off Holst. Even the happier music in the game has an element of mystery and foreboding: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vititmYVi0s&feature=relatedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jf78NWrFuhE&feature=relatedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hCEFcO79MI&feature=relatedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mduklqelHKI&feature=relatedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2u9F7z6Nzk&feature=related

I'm not sure about how to allow the user to print. Would I try to render the closest possible notation with traditional notes (and traditional crescendos and decrescendos (optionally putting in "moltos" and "poco a poco"s) with the curves underneath, and would I try to recreate music notation? If I would try to recreate musical notation, I would try to stick to traditional notation methods as much as possible, using notes, scales, etc.; I would use crescendos and decrescendos but curve them along with with loudness.
There is no need to try to use traditional notation. It always pains me to see composers shoehorning information into traditional notation for which it clearly was not designed and which it does not transmit elegantly. Use graphic notation.
