I'm not an expert of flash but wanted to warn people that is not so easy like it was a few years ago to get sponsorships to your games. Yes the quality bar has raised even for flash games  Apoplectic

Lol yes in other poses the bat wings are positioned on the shoulders... where they probably should be all the time :D

I realized screenshots were too big, so I'm posting smaller ones. Check this techno-furry superhero called SuperFoxy:

While I'm not experienced / successful as Fost, I wrote some time ago a blog post with 5 golden rules for indies. I think they still apply. If you're interested check here:

First of all hi everyone. I lurk those forums but never had much time to post. I decided to start a devlog for my next game because this time is something that could interest more this community (unless I'm mistaken I don't think my dating sim for girl would interest anyone here  Cheesy).

I'm just in the beginning of the development process but I'm satisfied so far. It's going to be a tag-team battle game, something similar to the online game "Kongai". There will be a story with different romance outcomes (like in all my games) and will also have action-RPG and light strategy gameplay elements. More about this later (also because I'm still doing the game design and I don't know myself how exactly will work!)

There will be 12 different playable characters (even if in the story you'll be able to play only as Undead Lily or Ace), 2 for each of the 6 elements: death, life, air, fire, water and nature.

Some screenshots of a very early prototype of the battle system:

and here is the character sheet/info screen. Still early WIP:

Not much else to say for now. Ah yes, something might interest from the technical point of view is that even for this kind of game I'm using Ren'Py ! Cool
For those that are unfamiliar with it, is a very powerful tool, but aimed mainly to visual novel /dating sims. However it has been improved greatly in the last years, and now comes with a very good UI system and lots of utilities that can help a lot doing most 2d games. Probably the only kind of game that would be hard to make is something with lots of action on the screen.
But for games with semi-static screens and lots of UI element, I think is really good.

Wallpapers are a great idea Smiley
And also want to public wish good luck to you in making a VN. I do VN/Dating Sims since a few years and I personally enjoy it, though I understand it's not a kind of game that can appeal everyone  Durr...?
66  Player / Games / Re: Sales of one man indie game hit, Minecraft, have surpassed $250,000 per day. on: September 27, 2010, 06:12:37 AM
i think there definitely are indies who care more about money than their games or the community, though -- a lot of people on the indiegamer.com forums would qualify, as well as many casual game developers. they don't actually do anything deceptive or harmful, or screw people, but they do seem to focus more on the business side than the creative side

but yeah, as far as tigsource is concerned i don't think that really applies to many people here -- those that it does apply to usually soon get banned (like jforce and such)
Honestly I don't really think Cas ever cared about making huge money at all. He just wanted his games to be successful so he could become indie and say goodbye to the terrible world of "being employed" Smiley

Merchant account is good for some aspects (the money saved) but in the long run I'm not sure is worth it. What if there's a problem while you're on holiday and you can't process sales for 1 week? if you're serious, 1 week can cost you 1k$ or more of sales.
Unless you don't plan to stay away from your pc for more than 4h for the rest of your life  :D

Awesome post. I agree on everything, except the portals. You should use them only as last resort, if you can't really get direct sales anyhow.
I personally think is better to spend a lot on adwords but increase YOUR customer base, than giving out your content (your game) to portals so they can increase THEIR customer base.
Unless you plan to depend on someone else forever.

I signed a contract for one of my games with them, then they said that the publisher (they were acting as middlemen) changed their mind and heard nothing anymore. Wasted time, they could have told me before ??
