21  Developer / Playtesting / Fall Of The Ark [LD24 Entry] on: August 31, 2012, 11:21:05 PM

http://www.kongregate.com/games/rekcahdam/fall-of-the-ark

I've never been excited about LD honestly but this time I felt the push to try my hand at it for the first time. I learned that I'm way too ambitious (lol) as my original plan was to combine adventure game elements with shmup elements. I figured I'd post it here to get you guys' thoughts on the game and what you may have done different.

Thanks!

26  Community / Tutorials / Chiptune Tutorial for PulseBoy! on: October 26, 2011, 11:18:24 PM
Hey guys! I thought I should share a video tutorial I did for making chiptunes with PulseBoy ( the Web-based music tracker).

Although the tutorial is mainly for using PulseBoy specifically, it can also be used as a beginners tutorial for using all tracker software in general as PulseBoy is probably the most simplified tracker you'll find.

I'll try to continue to post updates about tutorials here. If you guys have any questions or concerns please feel free to let me know.

Thanks!

27  Community / Townhall / PulseBoy ( An Web Based 8bit Game Music Tracker Tool ) on: September 12, 2011, 02:25:48 AM
www.PulseBoy.com is a web based 8-bit music tracker!

It's still in beta and I'm sure it has bugs here and there but thats why I have you guys to help me test it out :D! So check it out at www.PulseBoy.com!

Right now there are no tutorials for it but I'll make a video tutorial soon. Until then click on "DEMO TRACK" in the program. It shows off some of the features in PulseBoy!

Let me know what you guys think!

PS. You can press "CTRL" to copy a track and press "P" to paste it into another track if you'd like. I wanted to add that button but it wasn't enough space.

This game was damn hard... but sexy!
33  Developer / Playtesting / Re: Project I/O : IGF 2011 Entry on: November 07, 2010, 08:49:23 AM
Yay! AWESOME! Its like a weight lifted off my chest that you got past that part LOL.

But thanks again for pointing that out. I'm definitely considering making some changes to that part in the final version to make it a bit easier.

I wanted to introduce the mech there because in the later sections you will actually get to use the mech in a really cool way! Again, This version is just the IGF demo so subscribe my blog @ www.rekcahdam.com to keep up with it =).

OH , and I'm glad you like the graphics!

EDIT: The collision on the top half of the lift is a bit up so i can see how the missile might seem like its hitting that early. You're good to notice that. I can tone that down a bit. =)

^^^
Thanks for your suggestion! I'll take this into consideration though it's hard to decide if I should change what Ive done so far since I've gotten completely opposite responses from other gamers. For example:

Quote
"the game was pretty easy, but I consider that a good thing. The controls were very easy to get to, although I wonder what the up and down arrow are for (they are listed in the game as action keys) and the puzzles were easy to do too. The timing parts were slightly harder, but not that frustrating. I would like to see more length though."

or

It's got it's good points. Distinct visual style. Interesting game mechanic. I like that the shots don't hurt you, just push you around a bit. Game would have been frustratingly difficult if I died every time I got hit. Then again, it would also have made the game much more rewarding and a longer experience. It would have been nice to been told that too.

So far you're the only one to mention getting stuck. I agree that it is a difficult section to pass. But its definitely passable since several other other people have been able to do it.

35  Developer / Playtesting / Re: Project I/O : IGF 2011 Entry on: November 05, 2010, 07:17:30 PM
Hey! I made some "hint images" to that particular part you're stuck on.

Method 1: Getting it to follow you and jumping towards the block

Method 2: Jumping over it

Theres some other crazier methods but these are the easiest IMO.

36  Developer / Playtesting / Project I/O : IGF 2011 Entry on: November 05, 2010, 12:51:03 PM

So today I've decided to release my IGF 2011 entry, Project I/O! Like rComplex, we didn't start developing this game until a week before the IGF 2011 deadline. I guess we dont ever get motivated until the last minute o.O...

38  Jobs / Offering Paid Work / Re: Programmer for Terror Bikes by cactus & messhof on iPhone on: August 18, 2010, 08:07:33 PM
Well, I don't know if you already found a iPhone developer for this game but I definitely interested in this opportunity. I'm quite experienced with Unity and several other languages/platforms so this would be no problem at all for me.

Oh, and if you need some music I'd be up for that too. I write all the music for my games.
