I find it somewhat ironic that the reason I found TIGSource was because of Derek's rantings about GameTunnel's Top 100 list, and now there's a new site that claims to be even more indie. It's also funny that Nifflas is not "indie enough" because he tries to sell his games, while Amanita Design and Erin Robinson are A-OK.

In any case, I'm gonna subscribe to this blog because there can't be enough indie news!

Alrightey! Mac version is done! Smiley

Download universal binary here: http://www.oxeyegames.com/files/ourglobe/HouseGlobe.dmg (16 MB)

Due to synchronization issues, Windows users should preferably re-download the game to make it compatible with the Mac version:
http://www.oxeyegames.com/files/ourglobe/HouseGlobe.rar (14 MB)

Some notes:
Replays are now saved in a "replays" sub-folder. This folder is located in ~/Library/Application Support/DaisyMoon on Mac. That's also where you will be able to find your screenshots (Cmd+T to take a screenie).

Kinten: When you see this, update first post!  Gentleman

We are still working on the Mac version... got some threading issues with the netcode.

Meanwhile... we have been reviewed at Pig-min! http://pig-min.com/tt/1916

Yo

Braid was given 5/5 in our local morning paper, Sydsvenskan (about 150k readers I think). The reviewer called it "the best game since Space Invaders, released 1978".

Multiplayer games are now recorded to "LastReplay.hg1". If you play a game, please rename and store that file for our enjoyment later! You can load replay files from the multiplayer console.

Hehe... Home Globe? Our World? House World? House Globe! Took a few edits, but alas, now Kinten has gone out for beer and girls, and left the title mis-spelled none-the-less. It's supposed to be "Artifact" Smiley

New monocle-popping "FINAL" version!

- New background artwork by Kinten
- Build screen by thewreck
- No more missing sound effects
- Shadow Fighter nerfed back to about what it was
- Command groups (ctrl+number to create, number to select)
- Victory/defeat message

NOTE! New link (the game has been renamed, Kinten will update first post later):

New version,

- Shadow Fighters now deal "normal type" damage, which means they are better at harassing large ships, such as harvesters
- Shadow Fighters have a new technology upgrade, the "Web Attack", which slows down units

EDIT: Ouups... re-uploaded.

McAndrews: Yeah, the Hulk has been slightly rebalanced.

New version is up!

- S stops units
- H sets units on hold position
- B toggles build screen on/off
- Build shortcuts have been moved, so expect some initial confusion*. In the next version we should have a proper GUI with clickable buttons.
- Online play auto-adjusts for lag
- Plasmagun Frigate deals less damage
- Missile Hulk is cheaper
- Missile Hulk attack range can be upgraded
- Blasters have slightly better attack range
- Construction rate research now requires fighter chassi research
- Bug fixing...

http://www.oxeyegames.com/files/ourglobe/OurGlobe.rar

* Don't get too attached to the current shortcut layout either...

Crashed at startup on my laptop (running vista...).

Edit: Crashed on the desktop too, giving a missing .dll error (MSVCR71.dll).

Ah, I keep forgetting to include those dlls. You can find them here: http://www.oxeye.se/files/stuff/redist.rar

Not sure why it wont run in Vista, I will have to re-compile the exe when I get to the other comp.

Cool, thanks!  Smiley

I love it.  So much.  But inspectors should be one shot.  Catchers seem fast enough so far to be a moving scout unit.  I think the ability to move them around is a bit cheap.  I could move the probe thing directly onto the enemy mother ship and just have them sit there, watching everything move about.  The cpu wouldn't attack them because they would hit the mother ship.  I don't know if I could do this with a attacking unit, but if I could, it could be a cheap shot, because the mother ship would never be able to move out of the way, and the unit would never be attacked.

Projectiles can only collide with the target they were shot at (unlike Homeworld), so I think what happened was that you had researched cloaking and then placed the inspector on the mothership. The inspector turns invisible when you have cloaking tech, and the AI never builds inspectors unless you attack with shadow fighters. In other words, it didn't shoot your inspector because it couldn't see it... I hope (else you've found a bug).

GUI-LESS BETA DEMO VERSION!

http://www.oxeyegames.com/files/ourglobe/OurGlobe.rar

Controls

Use the number keys 0 through 9 to build and research as following:

0 - Inspector
1 - Harvester
2 - Fighter Chassi Research, then Catcher
3 - Blaster (req. Fighter Chassi and Hi-Tech)
4 - Frigate Chassi Research, then Attack Frigate
5 - Plasmagun Frigate (req. Frigate Chassi and Hi-Tech)
6 - Hi-Tech Research, then Cloaking Tech Research, then Shadow Fighter
7 - Super-class Chassi Research (req. Hi-Tech and Frigate Chassi), then Missile Hulk
8 - Catcher Speed Research
9 - Construction Rate Research

(see previous post for a description of each unit/upgrade)

You control all units with the mouse. Left button selects, right button orders.

Use SPACE to toggle between tactical (up close) and strategical (minimap) views.

You can cancel construction options with backspace, though it's not possible to cancel research at the moment.

Beta Comments

Sounds are work in progress and some attacks are silent.

The game has no GUI.

Multi-player can be somewhat slow if you're not in a LAN.

Looking for feedback!
