121  Community / Competitions / *NEW* Idea pool for future TIGS Compos on: December 25, 2008, 12:21:37 PM
Awesomely Mundane Compo
You take a simple, normal concept, such as "a boy goes to the park" and turn it into an over-the-top, oh-my-gosh-this-is-crazy game, such as "a 30-year-old boy with giant muscles goes to the zombie infested dog park armed with radioactive hamster nunchuks and a single stand of Chuck Norris' beard."

Also, I like the idea of Revenge of the idea men, because sometimes idea men have the most absurd ideas that they reeeeaaaalllllyyyy want in the game, for example (yes, this quote is real):
Quote
So, I was trying the alpha of your Wolfenstein 3D mod, and I was wondering if you could, say, give the player the ability to climb walls?  It would add a cool stealth element to the game.
Little did this poor idea man know that wolf3D's walls are too short and old for climbing...

Thanks!  Apparently, I are smart  Durr...?

I at first thought that this game would be lame(no offense), but I got it because it was free, and now I realize that it's actually a pretty fun little strategy game Smiley  I like the fact that you play god(or Vishnu, or Anubis, or particle accelerator) and change the weather, and I get some laughs out of forcing 4 babies out of an elderly wolf :D
123  Developer / Technical / Re: What are the differences between C++ and C# on: December 25, 2008, 08:17:06 AM
Thank you Captain Overexplain.

Just kidding.

Good history lesson there. Personally I prefer a differet explanation. C++ is Islam. C# is Mormonism.

(That's funny, I'm a Mormon, but I prefer C++)
LOL, I'm apparantly C# then  Corny Laugh

seriously, I end up using that rocket move so much!

[as for my other post, I was calling it original.  it seemed a bit blurry.]
128  Community / Commonplace Book / Re: Verge (27 Life and Death) [FINISHED] on: December 24, 2008, 04:04:51 PM
Oui, Verge is one of the most original games that I've played recently, if not the most original.  However: I have some questions:

1.is it required to use the secret moves in some areas?
2.do you ever intend to implement a game saving system?
129  Community / Commonplace Book / NecroFodder [Pretty Much Finished] on: December 24, 2008, 11:55:35 AM
Is there a link to play this?  The first post doesn't have it, nor does your website.

EDIT:Nevermind, I'm dumb Smiley

Nothing! This is from the CPB compo.
oops Embarrassed  I saw pixel art, and my mind went "DEMAKE!" for some reason...

EDIT:  I recently finished this game, it's weird, but strangely fun.

P.S:What does the love bird do?
131  Community / Tutorials / How to create 8-bit SFX on: December 24, 2008, 10:13:03 AM
A really good 8-bit sound thing would be Famitracker, it's at famitracker.shoodot.net
it makes .fmi, and .nsf, but you could easily record the stuff as mp3 with Audacity, or mp3 my mp3.

133  Community / Bootleg Demakes / Hold me closer, Giant Dancer on: December 24, 2008, 09:38:25 AM
I could work on it, but I'd need a reference sheet as to what numbers where do what.

EDIT:Never mind, I found a full guide on youtube, I shall be working on monsters now.

EDIT REDUX:I made my first monster.  the graphics aren't all that good, but this was just to test out the monster making.
134  Community / Bootleg Demakes / Re: Soundless Mountain II [NES] FINISHED (OSX / PC) on: December 22, 2008, 08:13:25 AM
I'd say it was for mature audiences - although the graphics aren't that gory, the sounds can be pretty frightening I'm told!
can a game be seriously rated M for "spooky sounds"?
135  Community / Bootleg Demakes / Soundless Mountain II [NES] FINISHED (OSX / PC) on: December 22, 2008, 12:04:13 AM
hhhmmmm.....this game looks cool.  I never realy played the ps2 version, because I don't play M games.  what do you suppose this Demake would be rated?
136  Community / Bootleg Demakes / Hold me closer, Giant Dancer on: December 21, 2008, 11:50:02 PM
I will be praying for the day that this game has sound.  In the meantime, I can mock-up some music for you!
