Oh, and Derek, what happened to all of those minor level editor additions?
Unbreakable blocks, keys and doors, SHOPS, DAMMIT. All we got was the signs and the inter connecting levels. the latter of which is undoubtedly awesome, but still.
Maybe a few more upgrade to allow a more metroidvania feel, but whatever.

The spoiler is an easy enemy. How did it kill you? Was it in the water? he said it caught him off guard. They're actually quite dangerous in and of themselves.

The custom mode is a pretty good idea, and I think the ideal compromise would be to have a section where you can play a type of level (i.e. cave, lush, ice, temple) and it just keeps generating levels of that type. You would start off with just cave, and then when you reach lush in the story mode you unlock it in the practice section. And you could set your life and create items and stuff.
I think that if someone wants to see all the cool stuff in the game and play around with it, they should use the level editor (F2 at the main menu, I believe).
people need to stop saying this. You only have access to things in the level editor from areas you have the shortcuts for. So if you have all the shortcuts, you have everything, if you have none, you can only use things from the first area. So this argument is invalid. Oh, I didn't know that. Sorry everybody 'm not gonna blame you for not knowing. Be a little more careful though.

Ah, okay. If you ever need help with ideas, humor, anything, just ask. Also, that is an AMAZING twist. Is he also your dad? Maybe the killer of your 'fake' dad? Because we all need that cliche again. It crossed my mind that it would work better inverted. That you're HIS father. After all, you're the last pikeman, he's the first gunslinger.

doesn't work. and it makes my antivirus freak out.
Is your antivirus AVG? That's getting false positives on all MMF games now (like this one) apparently, and is probably also the reason why it isn't working. This game is so frustrating! I escape death over and over again... I shut off AVG and it still doesn't work. I don't get overloaded with messages saying it's a trojan, but that's not a big comfort.

What do prayers to Kali have to do with a giant lava pit?
sacrifice. After all, there's a damsel at the top. And I think it's a reference to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. --Delmion I wouldn't know. Haven't watched it.

Let me know what you think once you play. So far I got a lot of praise and like 3 people who actually beat the game, myself excluded Very fun. Not being able to aim down while on the ground is irritating. Thanks. Is aiming down really that necessary? Aside from a few areas, there aren't really enemies going up ledges, so I didn't see much of a point to let you run with your gun pointed at your toes. Then again, the game originally had a 90 degree rotation system like Cave Story, so not aiming down is a bit of its heritage. I've always been irritated that I'm standing at the top of a ledge, enemies running back and forth below me, and I have to either go down there or just if I want to attack them. I could stand jumping if there was any control to it whasoever IE: you always go the full length, there's no height control.
