Interesting. Are there characters in your game? I was just wondering because I couldn't imagine a little person or something able to fit in that door with a texture applied to it.

Hello forums!

I have been wanting to make a strategy game for...about a year now.
Sadly, I'm not that much of a programmer and I only know GML.
I am looking for a few people who would like to work with me at making it.
I already have design document down(I do but im still considering if I really want that). I don't really want to spoil anything for the community in the slight case that it might be made, but I can say that I want it to be something like a Revenge of the Titans hybrid.

So currently I need: A Programmer(if you can do GML then that's fine by me, just be better than me cause all I can do is make shmups), and an Artist. I can do the music, but if somebody wants to, then they can take my place(I'm no HUUGE expert).

Also, if you want to help me make this, then you are also a partly a designer of the game because you will al contribute with your ideas.

Yeah! I could add a multi stage enemy. With a trret, and then he loses the turret and runs towards the player.

But really, the snake is already made of individual parts(like 20 of them). I tried making the parts vital to the snakes destruction, but it makes it way too difficult to kill.

Consider a painting, the Artist is never done painting it until it is perfect in his eyes. But, by becoming perfect it becomes almost real, and by becoming "real" it is no longer a painting.

Tower defense?

Tower defense is it's own genre in my opinion. The theme of it is destruction of streams of creatures that gradually grow in strength or number. This is achieved through the building and upgrading of missile turrets.

Some tower defense games can include obstruction, but I don't think its a definitive part of the genre, anymore than it would be in a sports game that has team members obstructing other team members, or in an RTS game where a  unit is moved into the path of a fleeing enemy unit to slow (and prevent) it's escape.

Consider obstacles being the central theme of a game, rather than an optional design feature as part of some other game genre.

I'd consider that to be a platform puzzle game, but it does overlap a little with the obstacles genre. I was visualising my idea in overhead view, but I've no reason to limit it to that. It could be realised as a platform game too I suppose.

How would it differ from Krusty? In Krusty, the bricks serve the role of stepping stones, rather than obstacles. They appear to create pathing rather than obstruct it, and the objective is to help creatures to a destination, rather than hinder them.


The game "Desktop defense" still used the above mentioned.
