there is no pay, it's for THEIR university project, it's about animes and stuff that i don't really like. i have all the references and design docs i need to make the graphics

i accepted the role because i figured it might be good for my portfolio

My "get out of here, run fast" meter has never been so high

I want to start with 3D games , which library\language\engine should I go with? I know C++, Java and Actionscript 3 so language won't be a problem. Help please  Cave Story

I heard 3D Game Maker allows you to create 3D games in seconds.

I remember getting this thing loooooooooooooong ago. Not worth it.

You are clearly an amateur game developer, as it has over 12 billion gaming options.

The light direction is totally inconsistent. The light on the arms if coming from the viewer, the head has two different sources of light, there is also light coming from underneath to hit only the jaw, and the lighting on the armour is just sort of splotched on without any regard to source or shape. It would make a huge difference just to go back and redo all the shading with a single light source in mind.

He's surrounded by lightbulbs

Did not in-fact get the job I interviewed for yesterday. I got some really useful and great feedback, which I really appreciate. It wasn't the standard "Not going with you, sorry" email. I am definitely sad, but it is just more motivation to become a better programmer and developer.

I am not entirely sure where to go from here, in terms of my future future. Funds are starting to run low from my savings, and I will either need to get a job soon or return to some form of higher education.

Going through job search on my end as well. Things are easier for me because I haven't quit my current gig yet, so not too much money issues. Had an interview with the big search company this morning, not too sure if it went good or not. Now we wait. Feel free to PM me if you want to bitch/share resume+interviewing tips/etc.

Just bought this used with a couple first party games (Pikmin, Wind Waker, Mario Sunshine) for the price of a few sandwiches. I recommend that anyone who's never owned a GC do the same.

Their goal is to get all the 18-35 (in addition to their usual target audience) wet and excited under the pretense of false retro nostalgia circlejerk, and judging by some posts in this thread, they seem to be doing pretty well so far.

I'm only commenting on their marketing techniques, not on the movie itself. I fully acknowledge that Scoot Plagrim was the same, but despite that I thought the graphic novel was pretty cool.

That's super sweet — the DS ones were fun.
I really hope the 3DS gets tons of awesome 3rd party games like the DS did.

Got back into Demon's Souls. Man I love this game.

Man, this on retina iPad would be gorgeous. Selling it for 1.99 would probably get you a neat amount of cash too.

So the language for the Vita is Java? Ugh.

Nope C#.

OH MY GOD WHY

Why is it that hard to just give us C APIs nowadays?

As Bjarn Stroustrup once told me: "Don't confuse instinctive with familiar".

It's a language from the 80's where everything is an object, objects communicate by passing objects to one another, and you develop in an environment where you edit your code as it is running and see the direct outcomes etc.

Seriously, it'd be the shit. I don't see it faring extremely well for complex 3d games (possibly a performance problem, and not sure how well GPU programming would play with smalltalk like programming), but for anything 2d based it'd rock.
Stuff to think about:

Also his sword is a metaphor for a penis. Zelda is anti feminist.

I liked this game better when it was called Fez  Gomez

Now anyone can build their ideal game in seconds.

With just one click of a mouse, you can create a uniquely playable game without needing any programming knowledge or artistic skills at all.
