I bought many games from Steam holiday sale, got Operation Flashpoint for 3$, that's insane for such an incredible game, and 5$ for the Witcher, I can't believe it .

I used both, I think it's better for you to learn to use AS3, it is not just used for games, so it will open many more profesional posibilities for you, also you could put ads to it, seek a sponsor for it, and there is the potential for it to be played by more people since they can be so easely spread over the web and be played anywhere.

I think it's to help create a community, to invest in the community instead of investing in deals for individuals, I have never seen a deal like this, very innovative.

Jobs / Offering Paid Work / Re: Fantasy story writer for my game

Well, it's a flash game, like Darklands
but with different battle mechanics. I have a working prototype on FGL, only the storytelling part working without graphics and battle system, which I am working on right now.
I am the programmer, game designer, and artist, I would need to get story writing, music and sounds from other people.
I want to finish it by mid december.
Details on the story and setting are not resolved yet (I need the help of a good writer to arrive at something interesting and worthy of sequels), only that it is a fantasy rpg full of monsters, swords, armor, abilities, villages, castles, dungeons, and adventures.

Sure, games have become something much more easy to play and I think that was needed in order to reach a wider audience.
My mother plays a game that you just have to click on thing to collect money and then you use the money to build things, and that's it, there is no more to it, it's so simple and mindless that it's hard to believe people enjoy playing it (well it's social and it has a lot of content...), but that's my personal point of view... But also at the same time my mother plays Command and Conquer Tiberian Sun (an RTS), and she enjoys both...
I think that there is a place for all types of games, hard and easy, mindless and puzzle oriented, challengeless and full of challenge, but in your case I think that you mixed two types of incompatible mechanics, in a way that does not contribute to the enjoyment of your game (otherwise people would praise your design decision). It does not have anything to do with the "dumbing down" of games, even though this is actually happening.
I see games as part of life. In life there is place for eating an ice cream on a hot day, and also there is place for winning a soccer championship, I think both things have earned a place in life for being valuable experiences in their own terms.
