Hi, I'm Dualnames. I'm a very active AGS forum member, and what I should be known is that. I also made a couple of games using AGS, including a remake of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy to a point-and-click adventure.

I also do barrel rolls.

me and a friend of mine will be at GDC for the first two days, but would be great to have an IGF EU in the near future...

we're also thinking about organizing an indie game jam in Milan next year (march/april) ....would be fun!

Sorry for the bump, I'm not Italian (in fact Greek), but I'd totally be able to come to Milan! And I know a couple of people that would be totally interested. Wink

DN Games presents

A space opera in 3 chapters..

Troika (Cyrillic Alphabet: тройка) [ˈtrɔɪkə]
noun
1. a Russian vehicle drawn by three horses abreast
2. (Individual Sports & Recreations / Horse Training, Riding & Manège) three horses harnessed abreast
3. a triumvirate
4. Three of a kind, a collection of three.

Info on the game:

2400 AD
The DSB Mining Corporation wants the retrieval of an object from an area infested by raiders, and hires a Black Widow ship. Those kind of vessels lure pirates to board them and act as highly sophisticated traps, instead of going into a full scale attack. You are part of RED VALKYRIE (A black widow ship), and your Captain has agreed to clear the area and retrieve the object. Your name is June "Summer" Augustine, a female "trapper" and your specialty is traps and stealth tactics.

As it is the game will feature different mixings of action and adventure, but for the first chapter as you control , the game will be more of a stealthy action-adventure. You will be focusing on getting quick and silent kills and placing traps. Something that may sound dull, but I'll make sure its very fun whilst playing. There will be non-combat parts as well, where you will solve puzzles, and there will be a free tour to ship you can take.

General Info on the Job:

I'm currently working on this along with a crew of talented individuals from the AGS forums. We require someone that can create 3d models and animations using the *.ms3d format(Milkshape 3D), or exporting to it from a different program (MAYA, 3ds MAX). We will be using a plug-in to handle the characters and textures in the AGS engine. More details can be discussed via PM.

I haven't read the book, so no ideas there whatsoever. I'm sure Eoin has done some great job, but I feel no matter how good, we'll say Douglas would have given it more justice. Coffee

I enjoyed that, glad to see AGS being put to work, as well. It wasn't really difficult at all to solve the puzzles, but I'm just glad the game works given the deadline you had. Took me about 30 minutes.

If anyone's interested, here's a link to the old "Marvin the Paranoid Android" songs:

Sorry for the long reply. Glad you enjoyed it Coffee

To celebrate Towel Day, and to apologize to LUniqueDan for that April's fool joke, the inspiration to create this game was given.

Asking the comments and thoughts and bug finding skills as well of Ben304, Ghost and Bicilotti, we decided to release it.

Hiring and giving the shortest deadline we could to Arjanpelle to write the music, the soundtrack was added.

Without further bubbling about anything, we present you:

Towel Day:

FOREWORD

Well, hello, and thanks for taking your time on reading this. What do you need to know about this game?
1) Always play it with your towel on your side.
2) Go make yourself a nice cup of Tea.
3) Don't expect more than one hour of gameplay. It's a really short game.

STORY
Four figures run on a corridor, they see a small blink of a light and head towards it..
The game takes the last four chapters of the book and makes a game out of them.

wasn't that the game that's basically the adventure game equivalent of I wanna be the guy?

Sorry for the long reply, yep sort of. You're supposed to see the book via Dent's eyes.

We're not remaking it as BBC did
Still the colours on screenshots remind me of it... Neon palette perhaps. Concerned

I mean gamewisely. Wink

STORY:
Arthur Dent, a typical human, wakes up on an ordinary day, just to find himself trying to stop the local state from demolishing his house for the construction by-pass. His friend Ford, however comes and informs that the world is about to end in 12 minutes, for the construction of an intergalactic expressway.

It's a remake of Infocom's classic, so naming it as Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy Remake seems like a choice of words..but you tell me.

Well, first of all, to follow the rules. My name is James Spanos (yes, I use my real name on the internet), and I'm a sort of forum regular of the AGS Boards, Indie Game Designer, Blogger, Human. For the last 12 months, I've gathered a team of people to help me with a project, very ambitious and controversial, to remake the Classic Game by Infocom's Steve Meretzky and Douglas Adams himself.

That game is the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy.
We're not remaking it as BBC did, we're turning a turn-based text-based game, into a point and click game, but with still keeping all the cool stuff and adding hopefully more.

I'm highly open to any critisism at all.

The link of the current built (Full game version):
1) You may report bugs yes, as long you actually tell us what the bug is about.
2) You may need nothing than a 800MHZ processor to play it (That's where I initially was builting the game)
3) Keep your towel and cup of tea, near whilst playing.
4)There's an AGS Engine bug, currently being worked on, that might make something appear in your screen. If it does, just quit the game and replay the game from beginning till that point without saving and loading. Actually it's better if you play the game (at least till you enter HOG) without loading or saving to avoid that bug.
5)Download
