Cheers, but I think I already have the source (WEPaint.bmx) from an earlier download link you posted. Unfortunately I can't do much with blitzmax code, and there's another program http://code.google.com/p/ascii-paint/ which I may use instead if Melly doesn't appear in the next couple of weeks. B

Cool, I'll take a look. Also, just saw your jumpcore engine, I'm interested in cross mobile dev so I'll take a look at that too. Edit: Just bought iJumpMan, i like it. it's quite difficult.

[EDIT] Oh, it's a joke. Boh.
First answer: $$$.
Second answer:
I think it is possible, but not something many developers here would want to do.
These big budget games are fun, and some, like Shadow of the Colossus, are magnificent. However, indie games belong to a completely different class, and shouldn't be compared to these. They show what is possible when very small teams of highly talented people want to make a game, and the results are occasionally more innovative, fun, dark, humorous, nostalgic.
As for respect, who on the COD team do you respect? Do you respect the dev who worked on the blood splatter? The artist who designed the jetpacks? The poor voice acting? I think that if you are successful with an indie game, more people are likely to know your name and respect (or despise) you.

I really love the minimalism.
I'm not a fan of the game play, its a bit too confusing how to control/aim, though i've never really played arena shooters (does smash tv count?)

I just jumped on then but found that the keys are the same: 'a,s' strafe, 'arrows' move, turn. Did you forget to update the binary?

1. Submit my phd dissertation within two months, after 4 years (of pain). 2a. Work half a week as a research assistant (in generative graphics). 2b. Work the other half week on a game! 3. Profit from 2b, quit 2a, and then ... 4. Work full-time making games. Each one hopfully would take about 6-months, and would involve a different theme (the sun, ancient greece, penicillin, ...) that allows me to keep learning all the wonderful things about this world while doing the thing that I love most, programming teh games! 5. Goto 4 (for the rest of my life). Oh yeah, also have a family, house, meet cool people, maybe start an 8-bit rammstein cover band, and run a few marathons.
