SUPER CRATE BOX You guys might remember this from some time ago. I've been working my ass of with my new company Vlambeer, got an artist (Nathan), a musician (Phlogiston) and animator(Pietepiet), entered IGF, and the game is finally done now! Super Crate Box is coming to bring back the glory of the golden arcade age, when all that really mattered was getting on that high score list. Grab your baseball cap and loosen your pants, it's time to fight endless hordes of enemies and collect every weapon crate you can. Madhouse isn't that great. It never got to see its full potential, but in terms of theme and concept it was pretty top-notch. I can understand why a game like Madhouse or Sword of Legends might not be IGF material, but on the same token I can't see why something like Star Guard or You Have to Burn the Rope gets nominated (and I don't mean to step on anyone's toes here). And don't even get me started on the fact that Minecraft and Cave Story have entered this year's competition. I mean, I thought IGF was a show to expose fresh and new games on the indie scene, not a self-serving circle jerk of praise to those who have already enjoyed suck-cess. *slorping sound*
let's look at this from a game designer perspective: because Star Guard is FU CK I N G AWWEOSOMEMEEEE!!!!!11and I mean it

thanks alot guys  That is beautiful, Xion. By what means (programs, methods, black magics) did you create this awesomeness?
I used GraphicsGale and drew it big and then scaled it down. here's an earlier wip. I did the wacky run without planning, just straight ahead stuff, but actually keyframed and skeletonized this one.  good enough guys I met the guy who made that who wants my autograph?
