102  Developer / Business / My Greenlight Stats on: February 25, 2016, 03:44:30 AM
Today I want to share the greenlight stats of our upcoming game Tiny Thor with you.

First of all: Here is the link to our greenlight campagin we're talking about:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=617559638

The campaign started on February, 6th 2016. At first we got a lot of views and votes. But that dropped nearly to zero after a view days. Our "Rank-To-Top-100"-Stat climbed up to 82% but we're loosing some percents now each day. The great start was because the game was listed in the "News"-Section at first. We have 53% Yes-Votes which is quite okay I think (after the first days we were at 60%).

Best of all we got a lot of great feedback and comments which definitely is a great motivator for us to keep working on this game.

If we compare our stats with other ones we've found on the web, we noticed that a few years ago the activity was much greater on greenlight leading to thousands of views and votes. But it seems this isn't the case any more / at the moment.

We've also talked to some other developers and after that I think we will get greenlighted sooner or later because the stats aren't that bad. But we'll see...

Here are a few things I've learned:

  • The game still has some coder-artwork included and lacks some polish here and there. And quite a few comments are reflecting this. It would have been better to show only polished sections of the game to the public.
  • The trailer was made in a hurry. I just recorded some cool gameplay sections and put an old track from the "Ludum Dare Version" into the trailer. The song was never intended to be in the final game. A lot of people criticised this. The trailer also doesn't build up tension (like a cool movie trailer does). So I think it would have been wiser to put some more effort into these issues. And I really suppose that this would have led to a better yes/no-ratio.

In the end I'm quite satisfied with the results so far and I really hope not to get lost in the greenlight limbo.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Thanks for the feedback so far. As for the characters face: It's intended that it looks very childish. The game starts on Thors 8th birthday Wink I'll try to edit the eyes so he doesn't look as he's sleeping.

@Storsorgen: <CHALLENGE>Now, let's see who's going to finish his game first!!!</CHALLENGE> :-)

Tiny Thor is a platform game with a unique hammer-throwing gameplay mechanic.

Let's have a look

Hi,

I'm currently looking for beta testers for my upcoming vertical shooter game (iOS via Testflight). If you're interessted PM me or E-Mail me (jochen AT asylumsquare DOT com) (Please provide your Device and OS).

The game is a vertical highscore shooter where you control a wrecking ball to destroy enemies with procedurally generated levels (every day at midnight a new level is generated).

Some Gameplay Footage:

Thanks Wink

As I really like the "Wrecking Ball" Mechanic I decided  to redesign the game around this mechanic for mobile with procedurally generated Levels.

110  Jobs / Collaborations / Experienced programmer looking for an artist on: August 17, 2015, 12:55:43 PM
Hi,

I'm a game developer with lots of experience and shipped titles. I'm looking for an artist to team up with to work on my current project or a new project (what you prefer). I really love arcade/platform games and pixel style graphics and would love to work with someone who has a lot of crazy and wonderful ideas.

My latest game Bots Boom Bang (puzzle game)
Tiny Thor (platform game)

The game I'm currently working on (with placeholder graphics / olde graphic set from a friend of mine)

I have nearly 100 apps online on the ios app store / google play store and have developed for nearly every platforms (ios, pc, windows, linux, nintendo ds, mac, browser-based-mmos...). Here you'll find some information about my past work.

Please PM me, reply here or write me a mail at [email protected]

Thanks Wink

EDIT: New

from iOS Build.

I have just implemented a shop/skill tree. The idea is that after each level the player can invest gems he collected during the level in upgrading his ships:

What's next is that I have to do the level / enemy wave/pattern design. I'm still not sure if I go for a traditional approach or if I generate the levels procedural. Do you know of any good links/reads for procedural content generation in shmups?

No, you have to stop moving the ship around when you use the special weapons Wink

For now it works quite well with the mouse or with touch on my ipad.
