(Early work in progress of an animation)Phew, there's a lot that has been going on but the best news to offer is that we're making progress! The game is currently being ported over into a new environment but has managed to evolve far beyond where it once stood before, most mechanics have now been implemented and the combo system we have in place has been greatly fleshed out. Before we showcase any gameplay though we'd like to offer some proper visuals rather than just a video clip of placeholders fighting! Work is also being done on cleaning up and finalizing some of the character designs! Lastly, apologies for just the slow rate on updates. The project was started when everyone involved had much more free time but at this point everyone has been very busy taking up side work just to hang on. We're all hoping to manage to work more available time to dedicate towards this in the future so all we can do is ask you to be patient and hang in there!

These guys, per-character, are out-animating Arc System Works.
When was Arcsys known for animation? Their sprites were always horribly under-animated.

 (Demonstration sprite)
Work is starting now on a full sprite set for one of the enemy characters. Various animations are being laid out and a basic movelist is being setup so once more is done there may be a video finally showcasing a bit of gameplay, as placeholder graphics are no fun to see in action.

Here's some new art as well of this enemy type!

need to get back into doing this since it has been so long, we're also redoing some designs so this one unfortunately isn't going to be used. nice stiff pose since it was carried off the concept sheet.

This came out and there's absolutely no marketing for it and no talk about it which is a shame because it's one of the best experiences I have had this generation with its multiplayer.

After some delay, the game is back in progress! Some changes with the team but now there's plenty of help on board and the game is finally moving once again! Hopefully in some time a very basic gameplay video will be ready just showcasing the basics of how the game plays out. Thank you for all that offered to help in the past! Except some new art and actual sprites here soon! Thanks again to everyone who offered to help, hopefully the few who are following this will be happy with what they see along the way! See you next update!

Currently more is being done though setting up a placeholder character to at least make a video demonstration of how the game will play. Hopefully we can get a video out there in the following few months or so.
Lastly, here is some more concept art! We forgot to post these before! Oops!

guardian heroes is the highlight of it but other fun titles include nba jam tournament edition, most 2d fighters, virtual on, daytona usa, dungeons & dragons collection (good luck finding this cheap), earthworm jim 2, and dezaemon 2. despite what is said, nights is not very good at all and is one you can easily pass on. be sure to also get an action replay and buy imported since US games go for ridiculous prices so buying imported is a better option.

Basic movement, collisions, hitboxes, gravity, slope handling, external color palettes, and scaling are all in. We're adding attacks, throws, and special attacks, and blocking into the engine next.

Here's two new pieces of character concept art

Jobs / Offering Paid Work / Looking for 3D Modeler / Rigger for Game Project
|
on: April 02, 2012, 10:26:10 AM

We're looking for a 3D modeler / rigger for our game project. Models are going to be used for animation references, so only essential details need to be on them. We are going to be doing the animations ourselves so you do not need to worry about that aspect. Once our game goes on sale we'll be offering a large split of the profits.

If you're interested send us a message! Thanks!

Greetings to everyone here at TIGSource. I'm here to post on behalf of our small group that is developing our game. For roughly 6 months the game has been planned and a month ago we finally started development. Everyone was pretty hesitant to have anything revealed so early on the project, but after a long discussion everyone agreed to post some of what we have so far. We'll be making an actual website for progress eventually, but that's when we finally settle on a good name for the project.
For now we'll simply be calling the game VIOLENCE JAM, don't expect it to stick.

VIOLENCE JAM is an HD arcade styled 4 player beat 'em up for the PC. The game mechanics combine the depth and complexity of fighting games with simplified controls and free movement like standard beat 'em ups.
The style of the game is influenced by the style of late 80's and early 90's hip hop. Visuals are pixel art based giving a crisp feel to the characters. The game will offer 20 playable characters and will hopefully be playable online.
Players make use of two buttons for normal attacks and a special move button to perform specific moves based on their character. By tapping or holding a direction while attacking, different moves can be performed. The game also offers both a guard button and a button to strafe walk.

Characters have three selectable super moves on top of their own specials. Fighting game veterans will recognize some familiar mechanics such as EX specials, parrying, air-dashing, guard breaking, and combo breaking.

Rolling Western up in this bitch. You should get rid of the banding. the reason why this banding comment seemed silly to me was because the post was literally one sentence not even trying to assist him. did he point out where it was banding? did it sound like he really cared? often when i see banding discussed here it is not as a means of criticism but as a way of just being critical towards something. if anyone wants to actually try to help someone with banding try to do what Jakman4242 at least attempted.

Was anybody else at all peeved by the pure hatred in the comments section of the post on the front page?
if there's one thing more obnoxious than people who like anime its people who vehemently hate people who like anime although I've heard the people who hate the people who hate the people that like anime are pretty fucking annoying, too from what I read it wasn't because it was just anime, it was everything else about it.
