Ahh can I just saw this is a fantastic idea for a game, and I think I know a good few friends who will 100% play this with me. They better damn well play it with me.

I really don't come on here often enough - thanks for the birthday wishes, belated thanks it is, but yes being in my 30s is far better, and whiskey tastes twice as nice now.. not sure what that's all about.

Looks like you've made some serious progress (and I missed out on a playtest, damn!) Hope youre kid is doing alright and you're still mentally strung together, I know solo development, or at least wearing most of the hats, while juggling life can be really taxing on your energy.

Lots of useful feedback here, and it's a bit late with me so I'm not going to go deep into the previous page of content, but looking forward to seeing more! Hopefully that counts as words of encouragement, in a way.

First of all, first time posting in here, but a very long time lurking. This game has come so far, and it's really gorgeous, great work and I will be behind that kickstarter all the way! Smiley

Secondly, regarding the kickstarter trailer: 29th January is a fine date, it's in fact my birthday, wooohoo (the sexy 30)! I honestly think your description is short and sweet, you tell enough, and don't give too much away, which is a good thing as it leaves the viewer pondering!

With that said, I think you could add even one more line to that, to extend that pondering a little further; depending on where you're taking the story, this is just a random example..

"However, the balance of magic beginning to shift, and the forest is dying, as a stronger force seeks to claim all its magic, Mable must find out what it is, and stop it before it's too late."

..or something like that, haha! Sorry if that made you cringe, I'm not a writer, was just trying to think of an example, hopefully you get my meaning anyway. Just thinking a tiny extra line to suggest a little more might be nice, you don't even need to address it much at all, less is gonna leave more for the viewer to imagine and mull over in their mind I reckon.

Anyway, all that bla I wrote aside, really love this game so far, and excite for you and the project, can't wait to see more!

How anybody could dislike that trailer is beyond me, this is a really beautiful game, I love the warmth from the lighting in it. Music is sounding good too! Looking forward to Q2 2016!

Love everything about this, and I second the sentiments in the above comment, soundtrack is key but you've created such a gripping dark world already, I think it'll be easy to be inspired, whoever composes for this.

I am a sucker for this game. Already 100% in love. Pretty late to the party here, but yeah, can't wait to see more! Combining magic with high-tech weaponry? Yes please.
133  Jobs / Portfolios / HyperDuck SoundWorks - OP Update! on: September 08, 2014, 03:18:00 AM
LAMP ALERT!

Hey guys I've updated the OP, I'm going to make an effort to keep it updated and really, I don't think it's fair having that here if I'm not going to be a part of the community as well, so I am back to lurking and sniffing around all the lovely things on the TIGForums again. How I've missed it! Hope you are all well and I look forward to speaking with old faces and new!

Chris.

Sorry folks, I should have been a bit more clear that I was just goofing hehe, but yes, we're glad it did somewhat well too! Nobody died while playing it = it did well.

Dean was telling me a week or two back he was going to try his hand at entering Dust: An Elysian Tail again, so I guess Dust is going back into the IGF pot. Wewtttt!

are the sales so bad?

Ah never saw this! Yes, he sold one copy. The poor lads in bits.

That's a shame -- it didn't seem like my kind of thing but it clearly had a lot of effort put into it. Not that I would have bought it had I known; I only really play PC games these days.

lol, not sure if you are joking along with me here, but no it didn't just sell one copy, it sold well enough to justify Deans 4+ year journey with it. Slightly off-topic, but a good post-mortem just came out about it all actually: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/180520/postmortem_humble_hearts_dust_.php

Good luck to everyone! Excited to see a collated list of the new entries.. eeeee!

Over the top, dramatised trailer for Dust:

it's actually just a glorified game of tetris, once you play it.

Not sure how Deans doing it this year, but possible that XBLA codes will be given to judges, since last time the whole Xbox dev build thing was a bit of a nightmare.
139  Developer / Audio / Dust An Elysian Tail Soundtrack on Bandcamp! on: September 29, 2012, 10:08:10 AM
http://hyperduck.bandcamp.com/album/dust-an-elysian-tail-original-soundtrack

Thought I would slap it in here since it's relevant. I put it in announcements but it's touch and go in there with how many audio folk bleed into those threads. So it's finally done, after nearly killing myself getting this mastered and prettied up, I can rest for a while.

37 tracks, 107 minutes, and that's after we slimmed it down a bit (some tracks were just plain old ambience without any real musical texture to them, we weren't sure that many people would want to hear that so often). Alex Brandon (unreal tournament, deus ex, jazz jackrabbit) wrote some amazing themes for the Dust OST, and we wrote the majority of it amongst those. I'm probably a bit biased, and I'm not trying to be bigheaded, but it's a good wee listen! Hopefully you guys will consider supporting us and spread it around if you like it!

Any support we can get, we're grateful for, really, you've no idea. We don't get much coverage by our own hand, so we've gotta just spread the word were we can, hopefully it gets plenty of lovin'..

So it's at a reduced price of £3.50 for pre-order until Monday, when it'll settle at a price of £5.00. For 37 tracks (107 minutes) hopefully you'll feel this is a pretty good deal, especially when it is not just quantity, but quality as we slaved over this soundtrack for nearly 4 years, and had it mastered by Matt Powell, who mastered the FEZ OST, and is wonderfully skilled and bringing out the best in our music.

Anyway, bla bla done, check it out for yourself!

WOW! Sorry for the double post but we're currently #3 on bandcamp! We're hoping to push to #1 if we can be cheeky and try, but just amazing, thanks for any of those who did buy it here, you're awesome.. you really don't realise how much we could use the support, means a lot!
