OH hey, just what I need to help get back into this!

Finished the tileset I was working on. It's of the chunkier pixel variety. Beer!

Enjoy! (mediafire)
Oooh, I need a new tileset.  Very Apple II.

and then i realized it's 20x20.. so imma make my own game damnit
Might be good for an Android/iPhone game!

More casual dungeon crawl stuff is great, no matter what.

AAGAHGAHGHAGHAGA
There's no devlog, so I'll just put this here.

I HAD BEATEN THE ENTIRE DUNGEON AS A MONK OF TAUROG AND I WAS ABOUT TO KILL FRANK AND I THOUGHT I'D GET ONE LAST EXP BONUS

But blessings of Taurog reduce your max MP. I already had the blessing of RAGE, so my MP was 1. I then reduced it by 2.

Number outside limit, game freaks out, endless error cycle, game crashes.

Undecided WTF Lips Sealed Epileptic Who, Me? Mock Anger Screamy

Oh no!  That sucks, although I've gotten to -2/-2 MP with no problem.

However one of the gods (Binlor Ironshield) gives you a 25% physical damage reduction boon.  If you do it as a monk, your damage reduction actually gets replaced by the boon, which sucks, because I wanted my monk to be nigh-invincible.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!
The tileset that literally NO ONE was asking for!
1-bit oryx! Feel like you're playing on a gameboy but not really because it doesn't even have shades of gray!

This is hilarious but it's too bad you can't turn the rest of the HUD colors off.

Grabbin' these.  The Derek Yu one is still the "classic" for me, nut I like the ZX Spectrum one a lot and the "strain" one.

The R-Type tileset is a neat idea, but I found it impossibly confusing to play with.

When you pick a god to worship, his altar turns into the default one from Derek's tileset.  Is this a problem with the game rendering code or is there supposed to be a different sprite for your chosen altar in the new game that's just missing from all the 0.051 tilesets?

EDIT: Good lord, the ASCII Rogue one is killing me.  Hilarious!

Dang, these tilesets all look great.  If theya re all 100% compatible with the new version I'ma have to download a bunch for variety.

This Derek Yu tileset is getting OLD!  Need new blood!

Someone just linked me this and so far I'm impressed.  HTML 5 Javascript has a lot of potential.

Also it works on iPhones and Android phones.  Neato.

This is great.  I've been thinking of trying to do something similar, like a teeny tiny dungeon crawl you can just play really quickly.  Rad.

This is awesome.  It reminds me of progress quest but it's actually kind of fun to watch/play for a bit.

I really enjoyed this because I enjoy tiny pixel games and exploring games, I did find some bugs:
First, on the third floor there's a place where you forgot to block off the water and you can walk right across into unmapped areas and even off the edge of the screen.
Second, at the end when I beat the game without dying it showed some code value for the number of times I died.

Also I hit the level cap on like the second or early third floor.  I wanted more!  But neato overall, if easy.

I hurt my arm playing this and didn't even make it to 150m.

Man, the Gryuss thing looks so good.  I loved it.

ONE MILLION DOLLARS.
15  Community / Townhall / Re: ! on: December 21, 2009, 06:37:48 AM
Keep up the good work, by the way.  I think there's a lot of variety that can be added to thge normal point & click adventure genre that...isn't.  Given such easy to use tools, I hopw more people decide to mess with the standard format a bit.
16  Community / Townhall / Re: ! on: December 20, 2009, 01:45:11 PM
Wow, that's a really creative take on an AGS game.  I had no problem with the "order of things" puzzle and most of that stuff was pretty clever.

But the rap battle was just silly.  Not good silly.  Just silly silly.

The last level is different.  I haven't figured it out.  The 2x resolution graphics definitely make it creepier.

I really, really like the "multiple solutions to the same puzzle" way of doing things, but I imagine that as a game gets bigger, that gets harder to implement.

Shot. Gun?

Downloading...

EDIT: Weird things with shotgun: it gets stuck in walls, and after I shot the little girl her corpse teleported to where the shotgun was somehow.

This thing reminds me of a few Edward Gorey sequences where a series of terrible things happen to a person or a whole family.

NPCs will kill themselves without even interacting with you first.  This isn't necessarily a bad thing.

EDIT: OH!  Is that a road out?

NEW EDIT: This happened:
Code:
___________________________________________
ERROR in
action number 1
of Other Event: Animation End
for object obj_neighbor:

Error in code at line 10:
   target.sprite_index=target.sprite_hit

at position 29: Unknown variable sprite_hit

I had cried, led my father outside and hit him with a stick and he ran back in.  Somewhere along the line the other guy and daughter were outside and she died.  I hit him with a stick and he started beating her corpse.  I was trying to hit my dad with the stick indoors while the endless beating continued outdoors when that happened.  The mom had been beaten to death already or something.  The error pops up until you abort even though the father is still moving, so I assume it's the girl's corpse being beaten outside triggering the error..
