Here's a short clip of a game I've been working on, just finished the movement now I'm spriting some creatures.

Here's a shot of how our game Drillboid is coming along, I'm trying to improve all the art assets since we are aiming for a full screen standalone. Created the tiles and background texture using Zbrush. Just the one tile at different rotations for now but my coder said I should post it here to show you guys =]

Dayumn!  Shocked How good this looks I'd expect people flocking to this thread like locusts.

I'm glad you like it!

It would be nice to get feedback from some more people xD

Seems there was some kind of problem and the old version was still up, it's updated to the new version now!

Thanks for the feedback suggo, hopefully we'll make it easier to understand before the deadline!

As for it being boring well for the next two weeks before the contest we will be concentrating on adding more content to the world and making it more varied. We'll also be adding an ambient light slider so people can adjust it to their preference if the game is too dark for them.

We just put out an update on our site everybody. There's an enemy now and a bunch of additions. We're getting close to the contest deadline now so expect frequent content updates for the next couple of weeks!

Would love some feeback on this.

Very cool! I love the visuals, the gameplay is fun and the control system works pretty well. (I always forget to block, but that's because I'm an idiot!)

It did have performance problems on my pooter though, which is slightly worrying. (It's a 2x2.5GHz Pentium with 2GB RAM and an ATI Radeon 3400 HD graphics card.)

Glad you like it!

Did you try turning the shadows off to see if it would run better?

Would love some feeback on this.

That's some lovely looking stuff. I really enjoyed exploring the world and the battles, and I can totally see myself returning to it.

Now the critical comments:
- the main character's inertia didn't feel okay, faster acceleration and deceleration would be nice.
- I guess I'm no friend to auto-regeneration. "Okay, I'll just park my character here, do the spring cleaning, walk the dog, rearrange my collection of stamps, and I'm back on full health". This, I guess, is one aspect of games where it'd be easy to create something original. Or there's always health power-ups from dead enemies or whatever.

Thanks for the feedback, you may not have realised that it's only your armour that regenerates, if the enemy breaks through your armour you will lose health that doesn't regenerate and the only way to get health back will be to use healing items that I have yet to implement.

The intention is to give the player a chance of surviving a stage even if he runs out of health potions.

Updated the build on my website again!

The combat system is a lot more fleshed out now.

I added some goblins and the start of a combat system to the build on my website.

Looks great from the screenshots.
Out of curiosity, how's Unity? Is it easy to work in for you Dungeon Crawler needs?

It's great actually, easiest engine i've used. All pretty straightforward and it has excellent docs.

Ok, updated main post with a bit more info and a link to the website!

Not expecting a huge amount of feedback yet but in a couple weeks there should be a lot more to comment on.

Sorry about that i'm just updating my website at the moment so all the links are broken!

I'll update this again as soon as I have the webplayer back up.

Very pretty  Cool

Thanks!

dungeon crawler but no dungeon??  Tongue

If I may ask, how long did it take you to do this?

It's a dungeon crawler in spirit =P

It's taken me about 3 weeks so far, but learning how to make it took a lot longer than that =/

Hi, capnbubs introducing.

I'm a UK based artist and programmer attempting to make a name for myself by completing a game of high regard. My ambition is to one day own a small games company with a few close friends.

I'm 27 and have been playing games since I was in a highchair.

Although this is my first time on the TIGForums I have heard a lot about it, looking forward to meeting all of you.

Here is a game I am working on in the Unity development environment.

All assets are created by myself.

The game is going to be a dungeon crawler but I want to innovate a bit on the combat and AI. So far I've only gotten as far as implementing the start of a combat system, some simple AI, gates and keys. I'm working full time on this though so it should progress quickly.

Some planned features:

Brutal realtime combat with dodging, blocking and special skills.
Lots of armour and weapons each with a unique model.
Clever enemies that behave in interesting ways.

Here is a link to the current build of the game, when it's finished I'll also release a standalone version with no limits on resolution.

My intention is to build a fully featured hour long demo before christmas, then if there's a lot of interest I'll work out a way to fund this and work towards a commercial release =]

WIP Build: http://www.blue-galaxy.co.uk/webplayer/

The Unity webplayer is required to play the build, it's only a small download if you don't already have it.

If you want to keep up to date on my progress then check my site regularly, I'll update there more frequently than here!

Here are a few development shots I grabbed from my site.
