Wow, that was really entertaining. Reminded me strongly of Smashbro's Melee, with all con's and pro's. I liked the aerial fighting, I enjoyed how you can "charge" your strong hits. With a bunch of different characters with different moves, strengths, weaknesses, this could be really awesome. As it is, the most fun I had was fighting enemies one at a time, let me build up combo's and whatnot. Reminds me of the way Fox/Falco play in high end Melee play, which is a very good thing! I didn't much enjoy when there was waves of 'em hitting from every side. That's the biggest complaint, really. Other than that, very good!

tyroney broke Spelunky.
Just kidding. Tell everyone about the game, anywhere and everywhere. More recognition and glory to Spelunky! I've been trying to show every last one of my friends. Post it here, post it there, post it everywhere. It's also become the game that I play whenever I have to think about something, be it in class while listening to a lecture, or while talking on the phone. Only minor groans of despair emit forth as I fall like an idiot onto spikes trying to navigate that cursed tangled network of leaps of faith, vines, and so, so many spikes. AND MONKEYS!

Woo, just got my first win after 276 deaths! Now to work on the city of gold :D
Also, a semi-bug I found humorous... I had a parachute on in the fourth area, and as I mis-jumped and ended up face first in the lava and poof, I was dead, my parachute deployed shortly afterward. Wasn't falling, it was a horizontal jump. I laughed a bit at the image of my poor Spelunker burning to death in the lava and his parachute deploying over the top of him.

"the only change I would make the the spectacles/Udgat Eye is some kind of colorful warning for enemy-containing pots. "

So awesome that you're still working on this amazing game, Derek. Thanks a million, telling everyone I know about this game (Even up to the point of playing it in the front row of my biology classes to get people behind me interested).

I laughed so much reading this. Please, please, what happened next??
I'm pretty sure you can guess. With the death, and the pain, and the addiction.

We join this game now in progress....
Death 124: teleported self into wall as I misjudged the distance. Death 125: stood on top of a tree to avoid man eating plants while I bombed out the base of the tree. Fell to my death by man eating plants. Death 126: Fell on spikes as a monkey latched to my face as I swung across vines. Death 127: Crushed by falling rock. My own rock. Death 128: Toad exploded as I leapt over him. Death 129: Gang mauled by frogs a foot from the exit with golden idol in hand. Death 130: Suicide after becoming trapped in a pit with no ropes or bombs. Death 131: Impaled on spikes as I clung to a totem pole. Death 132: Eaten by piranhas. Death 133: Eaten by a giant piranha. Death 134: Killed self with rock. Death 135: jumped on by a giant spider. Death 136: caught in webs as I fled from cavemen, beaten to death. Death 137: The frogs again. Death 138: Man eating plants in the darkness hurt. Death 139: dropped rope into lake, dove in to get it back. Devoured. Death 140: Knocked into snake pit by a bat, fell four stories, got hit with two arrows, bitten by four snakes, and impaled on spikes. Death 141: Made leap of faith with cape on my back. Fell into a swarm of cavemen. Death 142: Yeti mauled. Death 143: While carrying an incapacitated man-eating plant, it woke up and ate my man. Death 144: Brought down a flying saucer with a well tossed rock, it crashed on my head and exploded. Death 145: fell off of the planet. Death 146: Killed by a shopkeeper after attempted robbery. Death 147: Smashed open a pot, but had a spider inside of it. Death 148: Corpse stood up and ate my face. Death 149: Managed to kill shopkeeper, but his angry friend near the exit caught me with his shotgun. Death 150: Bounced arrow from my bow into forehead. Death 151: Found an arrow trap by sticking my face in it. Death 152: Fell much farther than I intended in the dark. Death 153: bombed ceiling, killed by falling chest full of loot. Death 154: Bats. So many bats. Death 155: Threw a bomb up instead of a rope up. Death 156: While carrying a damsel in distress to safety, ambushed by spiders. Death 157: Opened a chest, found a bomb instead of gold. Death 158: Attempts to use an exploding toad to break through a wall ended badly. Death 159: Killed a bat with a pot, a snake leapt out. Killed the snake with a pot, a spider leapt out. Spider killed me. Death 160: UFO blew out the platform underneath me. Fell to death. Death 161: Tried to grab onto a rope as I fell. Missed. Death 162: Spikes and monkeys again.
I love this game.
