All the HTML5 games mentioned had frequent lag issues on my computer,
These HTML5 games sometimes lag on my computer. If the lag problem of HTML5 is not solved, HTML5 will not replace Flash!

Those construct demo's don't look too good. Got a 4fps on the TD one.
Perhaps you are using an Intel display chip on motherboard. Intel display chips is not good for some games. I am using a low-end G210 display card and Ghost Shooter gets 18 frames to 22 frames per second on Chrome.( I press F11 to try this game demo in full screen. )

Maybe the release prices of Construct 2 are more reasonable than the price of GameMaker HTML5. http://www.scirra.com/construct2/early-adopterThere are three versions of Construct 2: 1. Free Edition 2. Standard Edition (USD65) 3. Business Edition (USD255) --Most people will need the standard edition. You only need the Business edition if you are an individual who has made over $5,000 USD revenue from things made with Construct 2, or are using Construct 2 in a for-profit organisation.

i tried the two construct games, and both ran fine but neither had any sound. a game maker html5 game also didn't have any sound. it seems html5 has problems with sound on my computer/browser
I have tried these: Space Blaster and Ghost Shooter of Construct can produce music and sounds on my computer. I am using Chrome. They Need to be Fed and Remaddening of GameMaker cannot produce music and sounds. Angry Birds cannot produce music and sounds. Pirate TriPeaks of Monkey can produce music and sounds. Platformer and Doggy Bounce of Monkey can produce sounds..!

Serious problems of GameMaker: 1. Screen tearing 2. GameMaker games are too slow. They should solve these two problems as soon as possible.!

Game Maker's reputation is bad because it is often used by novice programmers and game designers. However, that reputation really only exists with developers - if you're planning on selling a game, not all of your customers will be aware of that stigma. You don't even have to mention that you used Game Maker. As I said before, what matters is the game itself, not the tool you used to make it. The only limit with Game Maker is that you'll have to sell it yourself and it'll be Windows-only, for the most part.
ok..I really understand now. Thanks. I notice that Game Maker's name is changed to GameMaker. GameMaker 8.1 has been released today! I hear that there are many new and good features in version 8.1.! Version 8.1 will help to increase GM's reputation!!

3. Game Maker 8.0 has the screen tearing problem. It means that this problem has not been solved from Game Maker 1.0 to Game Maker 8.0. Why YoYo Games cannot solve this problem? Is it hard to solve this problem? I hear that Construct doesn't have this problem. How about Multimedia Fusion? How about Unity? Global Game Settings -> Resolution -> Use synchronization to avoid tearing Is that what you were looking for? This option actually cannot solve the problem.

(haven't heard of Unity having any plans to support consoles, but that would be interesting) Unity currently supports the Wii, the PS3 and the Xbox 360, unless I'm misunderstanding you. As far as money goes, using Game Maker actually can hurt you. A lot of the "big" game aggregation sites don't let you upload GM games and prefer Flash or Unity. ok...Game Maker's reputation is not as good as Flash and Unity.! GM users(commercial) actually should also learn and use other game making softwares.!

(haven't heard of Unity having any plans to support consoles, but that would be interesting) If you don't foresee either of those being a problem, then your only concern is the quality of the game you make. ok...I see. I will continue to learn Game Maker.!

I believe he's only referring to the screen tearing issue when he mentions Unity, not asking whether big studios use it. I could be wrong though. Hi, You are right. I mentioned Unity in my previous post because of the screen tearing problem. oh..the use of Unity in game studio is also an interesting and good topic. I also want to know more about Unity.

Hi, I think that Game Maker is a nice software. I want to know more about it. I have three questions:
1. Any big game studio uses Game Maker to develop commercial game?
2. Any successful Game Maker game in the commercial/ shareware market?
Thank you.

Game Maker Language is a very easy language. I think that it is much easier than other modern langauges, for example, Actionscript. Is it possible to make a compiler which can compile a game written in Game Maker Language to Managed code? When the Managed code of this game is run, the .NET Framework's Common Language Runtime will execute this managed code. This compiler is not a game making program. However, making this compiler should be easier than making another game making program. Moreover, many GM users are familiar with Game Maker Language. Therefore, the user base of this compiler will be really huge in the future. Furthermore, .NET Framwork's Common Langauge Runtime(a compiler) must be faster than Game Maker's runtime(an interpreter). Since these new games don't use Game Maker runtime, I think that these games will not have the problem of screen tearing.! I am not good in programming. Is my idea possible? Is my idea good?

I'm perfectly happy with making an ultra simple file format for levels custom tailored to my game. That's not the difficult part.
I think that it should be very very difficult to make a game making program.!
