Looks nice! What are your plans for the design? I see lots of icons / options.

dont make useless moves, that is moves that can be prevented or that a superior version exists in the characters' moveset. Make sure to make characters varied too though that's not as bad, but it's definitely more interesting.
Remember that a fighting game is a very complex Rock Paper Scissors.
Yes! Useless moves that are "funny" end up failing eg. attacks with 3 second charge up and 2 sec of recovery that anyone can run up and hit after 2 seconds of laughing and reaction. Great article on Guilty Gear / designing "failsafes" to keep your game balanced while allowing for creativity: http://www.sirlin.net/articles/fail-safes-in-competitive-game-design-a-detailed-example.html

I once saw part of an old italian movie with awesome zombies. Not only did they move very fast but they could teleport and they had telekinesis powers. And apparently they could also haunt people and make them go crazy, like some sort of mix between zombie, vampire and ghost.
Name of film?

Loved Source Code. First thought at the end: He is going to be a terrible teacher.
Mine too, hah. Funny how they don't say anything about that. I just finished watching eXistenZ. It was a very interesting movie.
What it's like? At first thought it's a mindfuck movie, but if you consider it for a while it poses some very interesting philosophical-type questions. Yeah, it's good. Dirty in a good way. It's not vulgar.

Expected to be able to dash in the air.. Also Z fire / X jump / C secondary stuff (eg dash) seems more standard for flash games these days. Trying the game again.

but wat if i didint wan to jump burd? When a baby elephant is born, its keepers tie its leg to a stake. The baby, small and weak, is unable to break the cord. Eventually it stops trying, and when it becomes a brother elephant, it still believes it cannot break the cord. It justifies this "fact" by believing it does not *want* to. This circular reasoning keeps might elephants tied by a weak cord and keeps brother men like you from fulfilling your potential. Break that rope. JUMP THAT BIRD, brother man.

For me the great sci-fi of the last decade includes Moon, Primer and the Solaris remake (really liked the different interpretation to the book / original movie.) Besides that, it's been thin on the ground imo.
Look forward to Source Code.
I sat through Solaris but just didn't enjoy it to be honest. It wasn't bad, really, but it didn't captivate me in anyway. I'll toss my hat in for Primer as well. I didn't remember the name, and was about to mention it to see if anyone knew it before I checked it on imdb. So ya, great one there. EDIT: Oh, and I just watched Source Code this morning. Really quite good even with the thin science behind it all, and the obvious plot device behind what was going on. Yes, Primer ++

So many manbabies... why?
I'm surprised responses are so optimistic. I interpreted the giant bird as a metaphor for the futility of human progress.
You have much to learn when you leave your nest. All it takes is one good jump.. and then you learn to fly better than the birds.

Issues I have;
- Can't jump while charging (running right). I assume this is a bug since you can when you run left.
It's quite possible that it's your keyboard. Certain keyboards can't detect certain sets of keys pressed at the same time. Try using a gamepad.

Damn, I never finished Sunshine; made it about half-way through. Several friends and now forumers have recommended it though, so I'll go back and watch it. Saw Source Code last night, it was decent.. the science was hokey but whatever, cool ideas.
I feel the movie has some propaganda: serve your country even in death and you'll get to live 'happily ever after'. 'everything is going to be ok', etc. Though I guess the story was more "real" than Inception's dream reality (and encouragement that a dream was simultaneous with reality). Something about Source Code still gives me the creeps though..

Might help to think of what theme/setting you want then translate that into mechanics. Looking forward to what this thread produces.

Great concept, cool game! Will you post details on how the bosses evolve? (So far bullet power+2 is too easy ) EDIT: I Spoke too soon Level 12 hit me for once, level 13 wiped me out with pipebomb spam.

Good thing this topic popped up and let me know of Moon. Great movie! We have too few good scifi movies so this was welcome.
eXistenZ is a must see for game devs!

I play quite a bit. Diamond Protoss on NA server, same name as my I'd here. I'll throw a chara code up if I remember at work.
Do you find Diamond games are mostly mechanics, or do mind-games play a heavy part?
