cause it's a blizzard game Kappa
I suppose it is pretty sterile when compared to other CCGs. I'm not too knowledgeable. Prolly an unfair assessment, but I found Magic to be dumb. The small group I played with played (printed, proxy) legacy decks so it always got out of hand and very counter heavy.
Seems like luck gets brought up a lot. I guess that's what I like about it though. Learning hero/deck potential doesn't take a ton of studying, and the RNG keeps situations interesting. The top players I see streaming play pretty differently so it's far from figured out. 'Slong as they release packs often enough, it'll prolly blow up huge when it gets on to iOS/Android.
Edit: Username is AlvinRow; beware, I'm super noob and spam hero emotes.
Edit 2: Oh, I also wanted to talk about the interface. It's soo good. Everything on screen gives feedback on click or hover, and every card or target the opponent is hovering over/clicking on is also displayed so you can kinda see their thought process.
I like dr00d and shammy the most so far.

nothing was good enough to be goaty so there is no goaty
2013 notables for me: sonic kart racing gone home smt4 spelunky skullgirls papers please
fun but could've been beter 2013: prison architect- it's in alpha so i'm sure it'll get better. it's too easy to get setup and not have to think anymore. risk of rain- everything is an upgrade in this game. there are no decisions. don't say it's roguelike. anarchy reigns- needs more people playing.
non-2013 notables: replaying kane and lynch 2 co-op pushmo batsugun got me looking at shmups again
predictions 2014: i will go back to animal crossing and find new things to like i will 1cc something i will break down and spend $50+ on a f2p game (prolly hearthstone)

I got a Vita over cyber week, and I've been checking out Sound Shapes. It's enjoyable if not just Knytt Stories with it's own aesthetic. The ability to play quick rounds at work on the Vita has gotten me back into Spelunky too. The dailies are great.
Also gave The Novelist a go. It's pretty dull so far, and I like these voyeuristic games. The overly dramatic music isn't helping.

I'm all about that Gunbird 2. It's so good, and so fast. I love the way Armed Police Batrider looks, sounds, and feels. I just don't get how to play it.

The combos in Skullgirls are actually based on chains like most of the Vs games, meaning you can just hit the buttons in order (light punch to medium to hard) with no real timing and all hits will connect. Of course to maximize damage or to create more advanced setups, you'll need practice, but as far as combos go, it's the easiest system to get into.
You should try Street Fighter 4 or King of Fighters 13 though if you're not really into the more vertically oriented, air dash Vs/anime games. Both games are current and based more around landing stray hits on the ground. Street Fighter 4 combos are simpler visually, but they actually require much stricter timing with many combos having 1-frame links. King of Fighters is more lenient on the button inputs, but requires pretty precise joystick work.
I'm gonna toss in Vampire Savior as a middle ground. Very short, and easy chain based combos with a good mix of air and ground games. Play it on MAME. Jojos is really fun too.
I totally think you should stick with Skullgirls though. Most fun fighting game imo next to KOF13.

competent movement and good spacing is much more important in kof than other fighters i've noticed just because you have so many more options for getting around/stifling someone else's movement, and not knowing how to move around with a character - because everyone has different methods for moving around the screen - can really mess with your ability to play them try to get hopping down and figure out how your character deals with zoning and maybe like a ~200 damage meterless combo w/ whoever ( dream cancel has a bunch of stuff on literally everything) and work on being able to do that comfortably in a real match imo yeah, understanding each character's movement options is vital in this game. i've seen so many matches where the defender regained momentum by crouching and trip guarding a hop attack in situations where i would've high blocked just because lack of knowledge. it's hard to learn though with the lack of online players, and the VASTLY IMPROVED NETCODE being ok.

my friends somehow convinced me to try a month of that ff14 2.0 reboot.
it's really playable on a controller. i have the pc version, but it's pretty nice riding around on a chocobo while leaning back on the couch. targeting isn't as bad as i thought it'd be with the custom filters. i also like that the ui is completely customizable.
the crafting process is terrible though. it's like purposefully long and tedious to avoid scripting it? but there's a built in macro system anyway.
aside from that i guess it's standard as far as mmos go.

just finished that smt4. i like the game, but it definitely overstayed its welcome. kinda finished it just because i'm on trains a lot. i'm prolly gonna pick up attack of the friday monsters soon on the 3ds.
i've been playing skullgirls and kof13 as well with their new pc releases. fightman games are the best fun.

remember the 90s never forget the 90s
that 70s show started in the 90s. they tried out that 80s show in 00s. i think it's time for a that 90s show. i didn't have cable tv growing up, but i watched nickelodeon on other people's televisions.
