Playing stealthily, the AI works a lot like Metal Gear. There's a normal state where everyone walks a set path, a caution state (which is called alarmed for some reason) where something you did leads one or more of the guards in a direction, and an alarmed state where everyone knows your location. I haven't really played guns blazing yet tho so I can't comment on that.

Got in quite a few hours of Deus Ex 3 over the weekend. It's definitely open to different approaches, and a lot of the areas can be explored in many ways. I started in the hardest mode, going for the no kill, no alert playthrough first, and it feels a lot like Metal Gear complete with actual boss fights. I had no idea, so I kept my inventory empty save for some non-lethal grenades and a stun gun. Really sucked having to run around the arena-like area finding pistols and ammo to weaken him and then go for the finishing stun gun blow all while being chased by grenades and chain gun bullets.
But yeah, aside from the boss fight surprise, I'm really enjoying the game.

Was a pc version ever confirmed? I remember Mike Z saying something about how older graphics cards would fair better during a Team Spooky stream? Yeah, I dunno what he meant by it, but I was still excited to hear pc Skullgirls talk.

Is it actually affecting performance? Or is it just hot to the touch?
I have an '07 Macbook and it's always run hot. It started to stutter during Youtube videos a little while back. The fans were on constant blast. Turns out, there was a layer of dust in between the heatsink and cpu that had built up over time. Once it was cleaned up, everything ran fine. Still runs hot tho

There's an anime that explores unbalanced RPS, though it was even more complicated. But I can't remember its name nor have a coherent thought about the subject, so a what great contribution I brought into this discussion. The game itself was balanced. Everyone had the same number of rocks, papers, and scissors, and I'm pretty sure they all had 3 of each. The fixed number of each card added a predator/prey, target the weak sort of thing. The lack of rules combined with the naivety of the protagonist for the sake of plot progression made it seem more complex than it really is. throughly entertaining show tho

Off the top of my head, I like what the Zeboyd guys did with Cthulu Saves the World battle count for an area. It forces you into battles randomly that give you some time to mess around with skills/spells, gear setups, enemy traits/quirks, etc, but after a fixed number of random encounters, battles become completely optional for that particular area. The random battle count is set to a point where the player's party is strong enough to beat that section's boss while still providing a challenge.
This may or may not have inherent design problems. I dunno, but it feels alright so far for the 3 hours I've played. Oh, and I've reached the count in every area before I get to the boss too.

Yeah, I saw that recently as well. I hate it when people say intense, but that movie was fucking intense.

Started Bastion today. Can't wait to find more shrines and ramp up the difficulty. Also, something's up with the animation on The (Dude) Kid. Feels like it's missing frames or the frame rate is off or something. The XBLA footage looked smooth as silk though. Maybe it's a PC bug. The rest of the game looks beautiful though, and I just went through the first bong rip too. Musket/hammer combo felt so good.
I also started a hard mode run through of Catherine, but yeah, that's gonna have to wait now.

Yeah, like shig said, it's not like people play this for hours on end. It's difficult to compare it to other vidya like GTA or MK since it's played for 3 minutes at a time, every other day. It's something my professor plays while waiting for the students to arrive or my co-worker plays during a lull at work.
Most people I know heard about it through word of mouth. I heard about it sometime last year because a friend of mine got bored during class and played a couple of levels. Yeah, I thought the game was boring, but I don't think he was brainwashed into spending that dollar.
