21  Hidden / Unpaid Work / Re: Programmer looking for a pixel artist (puzzle game; engine, level design done) on: June 27, 2012, 10:22:16 PM
I can personally vouch for Lachie; both his programming skill and project completion rate are excellent. He is one of the most visible people in the FBC scene and has a long list of completed games.
22  Community / Creative / Re: Your First Game on: June 24, 2012, 08:27:56 PM
My earliest game was written in 1984 for the Commodore 64... needless to say, it's been long gone for over two decades. It was an ASCII-art text adventure. I don't even remember what it was about now. My first released game was a conversion of the book "Raid On Nightmare Castle", which might have sold around 100 copies or so. Smiley The source and all disks to that were lost in '93 when my landlord stole all of my stuff out of my apartment when I was in the hospital after a car accident, and I've never been able to find it on any Commodore restoration/fan sites.

I rarely set deadlines... more interested in milestones.

Deadlines are meant to NOT be broken.
I think you missed the emote, indicating sarcasm. Tongue Smiley

Deadlines are meant to be broken. Smiley I have a production that's one year past deadline right now, and it won't be done anytime soon.
26  Hidden / Unpaid Work / Re: 2D Platformer - Artist Needed on: June 13, 2012, 06:42:21 AM
It would definitely be a good idea to put up some pics, even if they're coder art... that way, people can see that you're serious and not just another fly-by-night project. Smiley

I'm interested in what you consider "indie rates" Smiley
29  Player / Games / Re: Last Story vs FF13 on: June 07, 2012, 01:37:44 PM
I hated FF13 more than I have hated anything in my entire life. It made me physically angry at both the characters and the developers. Literally every aspect of it is utter, utter shit.
And you're not alone... I've heard a lot of people saying similar things. I wouldn't know myself, as I gave up on the Final Fantasy line after 7.
30  Player / Games / Re: Got an itch? An itch that only games can scratch? on: June 07, 2012, 12:50:09 PM
Although a lot of critics hated it (as if I give a snot what critics think), I really loved Chronicles Of The Sword in Soul Calibur III. I was saddened to see the series start a rapid descent after that installment (Tower Of Souls in SC4 is a pathetic replacement, and they totally butchered character creation, which was SC3's other biggest winning feature). I would love to see some indie games that are modeled after Chronicles Of The Sword, as I doubt any mainstream commercial outfits would be able to get the formula right.

HD version looks worse Sad
Probably because Justin whipped it up in a hurry... with some more time on it, it'd look nicer. I thought it looked pretty good for a rush-job, quite frankly.

But anyway st0ven's HD graphics are amazing and don't force him to make the game with pixel art pls, there's a lot of this already on in the world. We need more indie games with HD graphics!  Wink
I'm definitely game for HD graphics. I still see it as pixel art though... I guess the difference is all semantics. 2D = pixel art, 3D = not pixel art. I'm not a purist or an absolutist. Smiley

Doesn't specifically have to be pixel-by-pixel crafted art. In fact, I presented the idea of porting one of our existing games to the Xbox 360, and one of the artists whipped up some HD work really quick... it looked REALLY slick. So yes, I'm open to all possibilities.

Original (PC Engine) | HD remake

My main focus right now is in XNA, and I am going to make a serious run in the XBLA. However, it would be easy to have most any game available for both, especially since I start out the project as a Windows game, and then convert it to an Xbox 360 game once it's ready... XNA Game Studio makes the process a breeze.

Just listened to the tracks on your soundcloud... first thing that I noticed was the high production quality. Very impressive stuff.

I sent you a PM.

I am actually in the market at the moment for a talented pixel artist for a top-down RPG. Fortunately, I only have 2 other projects right now. Smiley (Both of my existing productions are slow-moving right now since the other team members are on hiatus.) I am developing a traditional RPG for the Xbox 360. syn9 can vouch for my ability as a game designer and coder, and I am always open to new concepts and design ideas that make the game blossom into something awesome (hey, that almost rhymed). At present, I am relying on TheInquisitor's RMXP tilesets and character sprites by Sithjester and Akana Yukinai... they all mesh well, but having unique pixels is always preferable.
37  Hidden / Unpaid Work / Re: Artist and composer needed for horizontal space shooter on: January 17, 2012, 09:24:39 AM
A quick update on this: as far as I can tell, the designer seems to have lost interest in putting this together, so this production is shelved until further notice. Eponasoft is going to continue with its existing productions in the meantime.

I have dashing good looks, a wide range of useless knowledge, am a smooth talker with the ladies, and speak three languages. Getting with the ladies is never a problem for me.

OK... I'm pretty sure I've been able to respond to everyone now! If anyone here sent me an email and didn't get a response, please let me know! Apoplectic

If you'd like, send me an email and I'll give you more details. I'm going through the previous emails now and auditioning everyone's demo music. As for the style: yes, I do believe that the intended effect is to be a bit serious. Jason's original composer really brought a lot of punch and aggressive energy to the project, and that's something I'm hoping to find here. Smiley
