Trying out some wall/roof material combos. I had a hard time with the brick colour and it still doesn't look quite right.

These look really cool, personally I like the top and middle left ones the best, I don't necessarily think the disconnected look of the blocks is a bad thing as from what I've seen of harestcraft I'm guessing it involves building your own house and the style kind of works with that (minecraft blocky house esque)
Also i agree with Solarlune about the perspective of the doors.

As for the passable bombs an idea could be to have it so certain enemies, such as the ghosts, can pass them and others can't, so a mix of the two
Yes! I really like this idea Smiley I'll try it out.

Awesome Smiley let me know how it works out

Awesome. Maybe a sequel to these mockups I made earlier? Wink

You need to make those mockups into a game so that i can play it!! then i would happily make the sequel Wink haha actually seeing that mockup on here a while ago as well as many many hours of smash tv and the binding of issac were some inspirations behind having a go at my own mini arenary shooty thing

Great redo of your old sprites. But I think there is still room for some improvement in the cluster department. It could also do without all those grayish brown colors.

These are sexy!

That star guy!!

Looks good! but i agree with Cellusious, the edges of the rock texture are maybe a bit too square/straight

Thank you! I really appreciate your help because I have gotten comments about "flat" art before, but I never really understood what people meant.  I only started as an artist a few months ago, so I'm still learning.

EDIT: That first link doesn't work for me...

No problem man, heres the full link http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=11299&PID=139392#139392

Looking good! Definitely a lot better in my opinion

Yeah i played with the colours a little, just to try and make it a bit more interesting, so it isn't just a straight ramp.
This is a good read about hue shifting and picking colours, if you want to know more http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=11299&PID=139392#139392
And also SolareLune did a tutorial on this recently as well
