Really enjoying the build, though I keep hoping for a legitimate person to come along. Concerned

I don't know why, but I get a Carmen Sandiego vibe from it as well, and I really love it.

Edit: I ran into a bug where a guy walked in with no papers.
It's not a bug, some people are just dumb enough to walk in with no ID or permit. Bring up your R&R book and click the "Entrant must have a passport" option.

Unless you're talking about the few who walk in with a passport and no permit. I thought it was a bug, too (it's what actually got me to log on and post), but I looked closely and realized they were an Arstotzka resident (or at least, posing as one), meaning they don't need a permit.

In that case, you just need to find a discrepancy in the passport.
2  Developer / Playtesting / Re: Wurm, Würmer, am Würmsten: A Massively Multiplayer Snake Game on: April 06, 2012, 02:50:28 PM
Haven't played a game of Snake in a while. Pretty damned fun, but I wish it were a little faster. Can't wait to see where this goes, though. :D

Also, ran into a graphics bug, when the pink line highlighting my snake freaked out and stretched out to one side of the screen. Got a screenshot here.

Edit: The highlight bug happens when you go over the boundaries, from 0 to 180 or 180 to 0.

Double Edit: Blagh, hit 269 points and ate myself by mistake. ._.

EarthBound
What reality should be like.

GoldenEye 007
Where P90's are God's own.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Took longer than Melee; sucked.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
Killstreak rewards are still stupid.

Gotham City Impostors
Should have delayed it more.

Terraria
Bestseller; still uses edited sprites.

Deus Ex
I need more tranquilizer darts.

If you're even considering buying it, wait until the March update comes and goes. I'll give folks a quick rundown. I'm on PC, I'm Level 78, and I've played this for about 30 hours.

+Customization's nice. Ranging from the costume pieces to actual loadouts, it's pretty awesome.

+Gadgets are a lot of fun. I'm impartial to the Grapple Gun, but the Roller Skates and Glider Rig are also pretty neat.

+Gameplay is a mix between old-school shooters and today's FPSes. Think CoD-meets-Unreal or Quake.

-Matchmaking's awful. It takes quite a while to find a match, about five minutes or so, and that's if people stick around.

-Optimization's not good. A few of my friends have trouble running this game, and they can run Skyrim on High with a good framerate.

-There's customization, but a majority of players just run with a Mighty and Body Armor. Alright to counter, but it's really boring after the fifth or so match.

?Games for Windows Live. I'm used to it, owning a 360, but it might bother some folks, and it bothers me since I bought this through Steam.

?If you hated Stopping Power/Juggernaut from the old Call of Duty games, we've got Marksman/Kinda Bulletproof here.

Let's see... FPS, no dedicated servers, stock standard guns, can hardly level up unless you buy XP-- it takes a lot to sell me an FPS for more than a few bucks and this doesn't have it.
The no dedicated servers is an honest piss-off. It still bothers me even while I enjoy the game. As I said, if you're even thinking about buying the game, wait until the March Update hits. At least then it'll be getting some (much needed) fixes.

I was going to make a dumb post about how I dropped out and how much of a bad idea it was, but I scrapped it.

Hell, let's try to make a dumb post anyway.

Don't. Unless you've got a job planned out and you're deadset on taking the GED test the first moment you can, don't do it.

I will ask extremely nicely.
I will do the same thing.

Seriously, what would we need to do to beta test the game? I'll do anything. Well, hello there!

... except that.

Created a Trait system for when you level up, brainstormed 96 traits and implemented 55 of them Tired

Holy hell. Addicted

Every time I see an update, I need this game more. And more. And more... Beg

Swapped the color palette. Might tweak the colors more later, but this is what it looks like right now:

(bunch of images)

Adding experience points and leveling tomorrow. Hopefully the results won't be too generic Cool
Holy hell, I need this game right now. ;_;

The palette change is awesome, but that could also be because I've been playing Vice City non-stop the past week so pastel colors could just be clicking with me. Either way, liking the new palette a lot.

is there an option to "go back" in the text to see previous messages that you might have missed? or like, maybe it all gets written to a text file that you can read afterwards as like a story of what you did
I would love something like this! Grin Wouldn't have to care about sifting through text, 'cause I figure reading the whole thing would be hilarious.

Girlfriend got stopped at the border, wasn't allowed to cross because she "seemed like a runaway".

Her phone's dead, she hasn't contacted me directly yet, and all I know is that she's been waiting there for the past few hours to take a bus home. I am so goddamned pissed off right now.

Edit: Someone at the counter gave her a compatible phone charger. Talking to her right now, feeling much better, still very pissed off.

Free? Not free?

Ah crap, I already got my wallet out.

What I've seen so far has already gotten me excited. I'm awaiting any and all info about this game, and I'm really looking forward to it. :D

Nothing really, and we've already decided on making an original game instead. Much as we'd love to make a Smash game, my friends convinced me that Nintendo'll knock it down when it nears completion.

I'll come back to this another time, maybe throw in a coder request for the original game (when we've got enough material and can't get a hold of one ourselves), but for the time being, this'll be nothing more than a summer project, and I'd rather not waste anyone's time. Thanks anyway, folks. :3

Edit: Forget about it, read the last post, sorry.

Jack Layton, leader of the NDP, passed away yesterday.

The letter he left behind, however, fits in the category of things that rock.

I actually can't believe this, still. I am frigging shocked.

Cocoa pebbles. Haven't had them for ages in Canada, and I am thoroughly enjoying them during my stay in Pennsylvania. Grin

Never bought a thing from social games, and never really played them for longer than 10 minutes because of all the purchasable crap.

Phubans is trying to troll I believe.

Seems more like he's joking than trolling, honestly.

On the subject of inspiration, for me it game making actually used to be about, well, game making. Now, it just seems like it's half "I'd love to make a game", and half "I want to one-up the competition", but it seems like it'd be EASY to given today's standards.

Is it alright to think like that, or is it egotistical?
18  Player / Games / Re: What are you playing? on: August 16, 2011, 01:50:27 PM
No One Lives Forever, at the moment. Forgot how awesome this game was until I watched some of it on YouTube, and all the memories came flooding back.
19  Player / Games / Re: Yan Zhenhua strikes again on: August 16, 2011, 01:49:46 PM
It's amazing that after two large and obvious accounts of plagiarism, he's still allowed to continue on. Should've been banned from releasing games on the App Store after the first time.
20  Player / General / Re: What first inspired you to make games? on: August 16, 2011, 01:39:44 PM
I like how everyone got into games within the last 5 years. None of you will ever be even half the game designer I am Wizard Hand Point Right

Hey hey hey, I was into video games and design back in 1998.

Of course, I was seven back then, and I'm just as dumb now. Durr...?
