1  Community / DevLogs / Yoritoshi's Arena Shooter Game 2 on: June 26, 2012, 07:53:58 AM
About:
Some weeks ago, my little sister asked me about how some stuff in MMF2 works, and so i made a 8-direction shooting engine for her. I want to make a little arena shooter out of it, which shouldn't be too complicated, despite my game-making incompetence...

Currently done:
-2 weapons.
-5 Enemies.
-1 Boss.

Couldn't really play it. My netbook, which i THOUGHT shoudn't have trouble running GM games, ran the game with massive slowdown.  Shrug
It does look interesting, though. Good luck with the sequel.

-More block types with the builder: let us make some upside-down ramps with it.

Also, how about spiked blocks?

I didn't see any... ugh... DASHPADS in C. Sonic's level, and his level seems to balance speed and platforming rather properly. He is the Werehog of this game, but done well, so i guess Generations will not be a bad game.

If anyone knows the name of a PC FPS set inside a haunted house, where the first enemy that shows up is a bat and human enemies turn into flower pots when killed, please tell me.

Yo, Del Duio. Yoritoshi here.

While i like the game, there's a few things in it that bug me:
-It's pretty much impossible to beat the game if you're lacking luck or are no good at the slot game. It's true that the game gets quite easy if the player manages to increase the attack stat enough, but without that, i don't see how the last levels could be beaten. All it takes to die horribly in this game is to get surrounded by three or so fast enemies, after all.
-In Hasslevania, it was always annoying to see nothing drop out of candles while i was farming. It's the same thing with boxes here.
-I didn't find the Outlaw's Triple Shot to be useful.
-After you beat the game, the gold counter resets from max to 0 for some reason. It shouldn't be like that.
-The game only saves the relics collected during the game over screen.

Alt + Enter should turn full screen on, shouldn't it?

The game's screen size is gigantic and therefore is unplayable in my netbook, but it looks like some sort of Tetris variation.

It seems we're supposed to build a vehicle out of the tetriminos, but i couldn't figure what to do to win the game.

...

OH WAIT, THERE'S A MANUAL IN THE GAME'S FOLDER! HOW SILLY OF ME!

Let's see... "Maze of Space, a game about killing space monsters. I'm trapped on a space station... Arrow keys move, Ctrl or Z shoots" and, huh?

...

Oh, what the hell, grapefrukt, tell us what's going on in this game!
And please make it so i can make it's window smaller, or fit it in my screen at full screen mode!

In Holland, people make games by themselves. They don't need YOUR feedback!

...But i'm not from Holland, so although i CAN make the game by myself, i do welcome your feedback... and DEMAND it. Cool

Anyway, i've uploaded version 0.94 at the Wuala link above. It has a new boss in story mode and changes the controls to A for P1 and L for P2. Versus mode remains the same as it was in 0.936.

I guess i'll stop updating the game for a while, so you people won't have played all of it by the time i finish the last boss.

Title: Xoters
Version: 0.94
Genre: Arena Shooter
Made in: MMF2

^Title screen.

^Gameplay (Versus)

Xoters is a simple arena shooter game i started making just after finding out about this compo.
Thanks to my lazyness and creator blocks the single player mode is not done yet. The Versus mode, however, is good to go.

How to play:
Your ship moves diagonally like Pong balls. Press your Fire 1 button to change its Y direction and shoot. Try to collect speedup powerups to be able to damage the enemy by contact.

Multiplayer Rules:
-Mode 1: Kill the enemy.
-Mode 2: Fill your energy meter first.
-Mode 3: The winner is the one who has more energy when the countdown ends.
