There is no sound in windowed mode.
Sorry I must have included the wrong binary when I ziped up this project. I will fix it later tonight. I am currently working on the end game screens.

Toadzilla now has sound effects and a full screen mode. Download here:

I have been working too hard to do much posting. After this weekend's code-athon I have something to show. The program now has 5 defender types, a Toadzilla health and sanity bar and a basic AI for the defenders. Also player 2 can deploy defenders with the mouse while the player 1 destroys the city. Controlls are specified in the readme file. The Download is still at:

http://www.monkeydev.com/toadzilla/index.htm

I may add sound and other things before the Compo ends. However game play wise I am pretty much done.

You don't have to make new sprites for the tripped victems. Just rotate your current ones 90 degrees. I might be a good idea to have them trip randomly or randomly based on how athletic they are. Captain trips 5% of the time, Goth trips 20% of the time, Big boy.... well lets say he travels more by rolling.

Wait, I know!  How about... green?   Tongue

There are many shades of green. Also I want to put other colors in there to contrast the green and give it an un-natural glow.

Another Update. This time I have all the toad's animation and B/W drawing done. I still have to work out color scheme and color it in. Hmm something nice and radio active. Anyway here is a new screen shot.

As usual the download is at:

http://www.monkeydev.com/toadzilla/

I included two DLL's and tested it on my friend's computer. It worked there after I included the seccond DLL. If any one could tell me the project settings for VC++ 2003 to not require MSVCR70d.dll I would apreciate it.

RPGDX was the last programming compo I entered. I usualy hang about http://allegro.cc chatting in their forums and waiting for the next speed hack. Oddly enough RPGDX's Lillith's Enticement and this Compo were both mentioned in the allegro.cc news page and I felt obligated to enter.

I just finished the rigging Black and white sketch of the Toadzilla. I have a home made 2d rigging and animation program Smiley

Ok I have implimented the Toadzilla, here are some screen shots:

Just kidding those are place holder graphics.

The Toadzilla controlls work now. I have updated the link to point at the new build. So click here to try out the newest version:

http://www.monkeydev.com/toadzilla/toadzilla.zip

Controlls are:
A move left
D move right
,(comma) jump
W start climbing

(while climbing)
WASD move in specified direction
,(comma) jump
, + S let go of building and go free fall.

.(period) dammage building frog is in front of.

I still have a lot of animations to make and load but this is how I want the controlls to work.

Let me know if there is anything odd or counterintuative about it.

Wow that screen shot looks like it uses some great particle effects and post render filters.

There appears to be a lot of digestive track related enties for this Competition. I think Bowles of the Collosus will fit right in. If this is your first game making competition I suggest you try and keep it small. It looks better if you have a small working game at the end of the competition than a huge idea with only semi working parts.

Sorry about lacking the msvcr10d.dll file. I have added it to the Zip file on my webpage. I thought I set the Visual Studio settings to exclude that file in the release build, but I guess I was wrong. I blame Microsoft (unless the Gates is monitoring this forum then I blame the media).

As you may have guessed this is the level editor. The real game will just load the files this program creates. I like to make sure the tiles and building collapse work before going further in development.

After the loading screen I am getting an error message:
"Unexpected error occured when running the game"
then I get another error message saying:
"Runtime error 216 at 00436C39"
there is also a long microsoft error report.

You game concept ans screen shots sound fun. I look forward to a fixed version.

Announcing Toadzilla, my entry into the B-Games Competition. You play as a mutant toad that has grown enormous and seeks to destroy mankind. This game will feature:
•   Glorious 2D animation
•   Fully destructible environments
•   Giant radioactive toad
•   Pathetic human defenders

Here is a screen shot of early development:

EDIT
Here is a screen shot of the final game

You can test it out at:

http://www.monkeydev.com/toadzilla/toadzilla.zip

controls are:
W A S D move about world map
Left Mouse: place building
Right Mouse:  damage building by one state, click more until the building falls down
Esc: Exits

Please let me know if you are getting any runtime errors and what they are.

I think I am going try and make a game for this.

Here is my current idea:

Nothing makes me think B-movies or B-games more than rampage. So I am going to try and make my version of it. Probably with more odd ball monsters than the original. The main twist to it will be the 2 player mode. One player will be the monster and the other will spawn in defenders to kill the monster and die horrible, pointless deaths. The monster player will use the keyboard and the defender will use the mouse. I will start a new thread when I have some screen shots to show for my self.
