On the what people consume thing, I'm more concerned about safety. Perhaps because I read "The Jungle" by that Sinclair fellow, so I might just be paranoid and all... but I do fear what happens when we allow medicinal companies and food providers to make their own standards of health and safety. I obsessively wash my fruit to make sure the pesticides that may or may not be on it get off, as is.

Ron Paul on abortion.

He's very pro-life on a personal level, and sees the entire thing as horrible. Especially late-term abortion. However, there's also this quote on the same page:

Quote
At the same time, Ron Paul believes that the ninth and tenth amendments to the U.S. Constitution do not grant the federal government any authority to legalize or ban abortion. Instead, it is up to the individual states to prohibit abortion.

In translation: "I think it's a bad thing, so pro-life people can support me. But I want states to decide, so pro-choice people can support me." At least, that's assuming it's a political device.

Or a really really really really really dum kid who will look back on these posts in two years and say "why"
He's pretty much like this on the Bay12 Forums, too.

Saying that the media you use to gain information is not only superior to alternate media, but that the alternative is horrible and mind controlling is a little more than silly. Personally, Ron Paul would be a pleasant choice if I was a fan of total democracy, but I'm not. I don't really trust each state, much less each individual voter, to act in their best interests. It's a quick way to shut out gay marriage, decent/free healthcare and such.

In a single player system, classes are a good way to start your player off in the right direction. Not only would the Rogue have a different motivation for starting the journey than the Paladin, he'll have a different set of skills. Even if you go with an open ended leveling system, having a balanced set of abilities to begin with helps guides newer players in to a playing style. "Oh, so those are the things I want to level up to be a good axe guy" or "so this helps healers more than fire magi?" As a compromise, if you really hate classes, offer presets that someone could glance at and apply in their own way.

As for a multiplayer game... Well, go play TF2 and then play Brink. In TF2, you can notice a class and know their general purpose instantly. Even though there are a selection of weapons (Demoman can go Sticky or Demoknight, Medics with their different mediguns, Minisentries or L3s on Engineers) you're never completely in the dark. For Brink, you never really know what you're being hit with until you're dead, and without even consistent silhouettes you can't tell how you and your team mate can work together. You have a bit more time to react in RPG style games than in FPS, but the principle applies. "LFG Someone who can heal" is much more vague than "LFG Cleric Group Healer".
