as far as the frustration you felt... sorry to hear that! you can modify your jump by wiggling left or right in the air, i.e. if you're jumping right and you press left while in the air you will only jump about 1/2 way.
one reason why it may be off is because the collision sprite is very small compared to the size of the frog, I'll look into this.

edit: also, when you did the super jump, did you hold it down all the way until he jumped on his own? because it builds in strength continuously, not just when he reaches the end of the animation. this is something I should fix.
