1  Jobs / Collaborations / [Rev Share] Looking for writers/editors for website on: September 05, 2016, 10:32:08 AM
Hi,

I am looking for editors and bloggers who want to write about video games and gamedev for a website I created and launched last month: IndieDevMap.

IndieDevMap was created to be an online map of indie and independent game developers, but now we are about to expand it with original content like game reviews, developer interviews and pretty much anything about games and gamedev.

For now the only retribution is a share of advertising revenue generated by the articles you publish, but at the same time you'll have no obligation. You can publish a new article every day or every month or even just once, it's entirely up to you.

For more info check out the contribute page on the website or send me a message.

2  Community / Townhall / IndieDevMap, world map of indie and independent game developers on: August 11, 2016, 07:06:51 AM

Hi, today I launched a new website dedicated to indie and independent game developers: IndieDevMap.

At the moment the website lists almost 200 developers, but many others will be added soon.

If you are an active developer you can register and get your place on the map clicking on the SUBMIT button.

I'm planning to introduce more features and extend the content soon, so if you have any suggestion feel free to comment here or send me a message.

4  Community / Townhall / [Kickstarter] Sim Betting Football campaign launched today on: March 01, 2016, 11:33:21 AM

Today I launched my first Kickstarter campaign to fund the last stage of development of Sim Betting Football, a mobile game I've been working on for a year now.

You can find all the main info on the campaign page, but you can also have a look at my dev blog on the TIGForum for an overview of the development so far.
5  Community / DevLogs / Re: Sim Betting Football - soon on Kickstarter on: February 24, 2016, 09:12:04 AM

It took a lot of work and preparation, but yesterday our Kickstarter campaign has been approved by their staff and we can finally announce that Sim Betting Football will go live on Kickstarter next Tuesday, the 1st of March.

We’ll be working around the clock to get everything ready for a great launch next week. If you want to help, please support our social campaign on Thunderclap, it takes only one click and it will help us spreading the word about our Kickstarter campaign on the launch day.

After a long battle against the cryptic documentation provided by Google and the obscure functions of the C++ Google Play Game Services API, I'm happy to announce that the latest Android build of Sim Betting Football now offers full support for achievements and leaderboards.

I'm probably going to write some tech details on my own blog, but in the meanwhile the development goes on and the game is still in closed beta in case you wanted to try out the game (on Android).
8  Community / DevLogs / Re: Sim Betting Football - join the closed beta on: January 05, 2016, 04:51:10 AM
New year new updates!

The game is now officially in beta and I am looking for Android testers to get feedback and iron the last bugs out.

If interested check out the features gallery, which explains how the game works, and register to join the closed beta here.
9  Community / DevLogs / Sim Betting Football - version 0.6.0 on: December 01, 2015, 09:41:43 AM
I've not been posting updates for few months, but that's because I've been very busy with the development and work in general.

At this stage all the main features of the game have been implemented and the latest stable version (0.6.0) introduces saving and loading.

The size of a save file is between 1Mb and 4Mb, according to how far you go with a simulated season, but loading and saving times are pretty quick on all the Android devices I tested so far, usually below 0.5 seconds.

At the moment I'm working on the interactive tutorial which should be finished in a day or 2.
Soon I will also be inviting more people to join the closed beta to test the game before the release, if interested you can fill this online form.
10  Community / DevLogs / Sim Betting Football - UPDATE 4: the match summary screen on: August 25, 2015, 05:08:11 AM
New week, new game screenshots! This time about the match summary screen, which shows all the important data after a football match has been simulated in game.

IMPORTANT NOTE the following screenshots are from an alpha build, things might change in the future.

The match summary screen is made by 3 panels. The 2 side ones show the two formations highlighting all the players who got involved with the match and their rating.

The central panel is made by 2 tabs and can show the key events (as in the first screenshot) or the statistics of the match.

Full size images and more details are available in this game blog post.
11  Community / DevLogs / Sim Betting Football - UPDATE 3: the player profile screen on: August 18, 2015, 11:22:38 AM
This update is about the player profile screen which is the screen showing data and statistics of a football player in game.

IMPORTANT NOTE the following screenshots are from an alpha build, things might change in the future.

The initial view of the player profile shows an overview of the player including his personal and financial data, his general status and several statistics from the current season.

The second view of the player profile shows all the attributes of the player, grouped by categories.

The final view shows statistics for the current season and he past ones.

12  Community / DevLogs / Sim Betting Football - UPDATE 2: the formation screen on: August 11, 2015, 05:02:19 AM
Second update with new screenshots of the game. This time it's about the formation screen, where you can find the current formation of a team and check all the players involved.

IMPORTANT NOTE the following screenshots are from an alpha build, things might change in the future.

The formation screen gives you a quick overview of the players which are going to play next match, the substitutes and the ones left out. Furthermore it shows the current formation used by a team and how the players are placed on the field.

Tapping on any entry opens a card which shows more details about the player, like summary scores for different attribute groups (attack, defence, etc…), his current statistics and his proficiency in different positions.

Full size images in the original game blog post.
13  Community / DevLogs / Sim Betting Football - UPDATE 1: the team players screen on: August 08, 2015, 02:45:56 AM
Here the first screenshots of the game, they show the team players screen, the place where you can find all the players of a team to check and compare all their attributes and stats.

IMPORTANT NOTE the following screenshots are from an alpha build, things might change in the future.

The style used for Sim Betting Football is flat and simple, based on colours of the material design palette. Reading and analysing data are very important aspects of the game and using this style allows to show more information as possible in a very clear way, even on mobile devices (small screens).

The OVERALL view gives you an overview of the players.

Other tabs allows to analyse player attributes in detail, for example the MENT/PHYS tab shows mental and physical attributes of the players.

In this screenshot it’s also possible to notice a tooltip which appears when holding a button.

The last screenshot features the STATISTICS tab which shows statistics of all the players for the current season.

It is possible to sort the views by any field. For example here the players are sorted by average rating in descending order. Obviously order can be descending or ascending for every field.

I scaled the screenshots down to fit the forum size, for a better resolution check out the original game blog post.
14  Community / DevLogs / Sim Betting Football - now released on Android on: August 07, 2015, 03:44:25 AM

CONCEPT
Sim Betting Football is a football (soccer) simulation game in which the player bets virtual money on simulated football matches and other events.

DESCRIPTION
Sim Betting Football is an unique and innovative game which revisits and revamps classic football simulation games and aims at starting a new genre offering the player a totally new perspective.

At first glance the game will look like a classic football management game. There will be tens of leagues, hundreds of clubs and thousands of players, each and every one of them with their own attributes and stats. A whole virtual football universe will be entirely simulated on your device and there will be plenty of data to follow and analyse it.

However in Sim Betting Football you won’t be playing as a football manager running a club, but you will be betting virtual money on the simulated matches and other events in the game (league winners, clubs relegated, season top scorers, etc...). There will be classic pre-match and in-play bets and different markets will be unlocked progressing the game.

Cool and original concept, but I find quite frustrating the fact that you can't change lane when the mouse cursors is not on it.

Anyway, for now I only played the first level and a bit of the second, so this is just a first impression. I'll update my feedback after playing more.

How to set up a SDL 2 project for OS X in Xcode 4

In this tutorial I'm explaining how to set up an OS X project in XCode to use SDL 2, a cross-platform development library used for many games.

The tutorial comes with many pictures to guide you through the whole process and it should cover all you need to create an OS X app based on SDL 2.

Comments and questions are welcome, furthermore, I'm planning to write more tutorial about SDL 2, so if you have any request please let me know.

It seems silly to cater only to "teams." A good number of developers work alone or jump around between development partners.
teams made by a single person are well accepted. Freelancers are not for now, but this could change in the future.

A quick update to announce the 0.2.0 version of the website introducing Search and Advanced Search.

Also, I wrote a blog post on Gamasutra about how the website started, the current status of the project and future plans.
