seriously though just read a book. i have the same problem, and reading helps a lot. a bit part of the problem is using the computer or w/e right before bed, and reading puts you in a better state from which to fall asleep in.
as hard as it is to say this man speaks some wise words here

Just think about porn if you can't fall asleep. Or read a book.
Preferably both.

Probably one of the few retro pixelart games I'd like to play. This is how Terraria should have looked like.
Good job sir.

fillrect just fills your screen with a chosen color it's used just to clear the screen lol
you redraw everything manually by putting the whole thing into some sort of a game loop

@anty you're judging this game for its art without playing it? i don't see the difference.
unfortunately [IF YOU READ THE ARTICLE YOU WOULD KNOW ] there's only one mockup of the retro game I talked about so there's literally nothing more to focus on

go through your article and replace every instance of "pixel art" with "match 3" and maybe we'll get somewhere
replace 'duck' in your personal text with 'faggot' and we'll start from there @down it's quite amusing to see what your next dumb response will be i'm eager to play this out on your level just for the sake of it wait for it :*

It's nice to know that when you can't bring any constructive argument you act like a 5yr old :*. And FYI - I don't really care if anyone cares about this topic And definitely don't care about people like you. @down I don't really care

I'm glad we can all agree to stop liking interesting games and go back to loving only match three games like Rune Masters the greatest game of all time which I have preordered on the strength of its clever "match three things" gameplay
waxx is the genius of gaming
I'm glad we can all agree that you're a drama-seeking pal that showed no interest whatsoever in reading both the article and this topic.

That might be true Paul, except more people are eager to play semi-good retro pixelart than semi-good hd graphics game. In most cases they won't even care to read about the game with the latter style.
And about that press... Idk man, in one of the biggest polish sites with video section, 90% of games under 'indie' tag are pixelish.

Developer / Technical / Re: Auto updaters?

It's really easy. Just create a file containing all files` names and their MD5 hashes. You can easily write a script that does it for all files in a chosen directory. Then, make the auto-updater download that file and compare all files the game has on user's end with those files and MD5s you downloaded. If something is missing or MD5 is different - proceed to add that file to download list. One could argue it's not the most efficient way - but a 50kB (in our project with tons of assets) manifest is not really a problem these days.

How old is your programmer ? As in, what games did he grow up playing ?
Overall i very much disapprove the article.. He fails to accept one of the most basic facts of life, that people like different things and thats that. + I think 2d in unity works, im doing a 2d pixel game in unity myself, so his argument about unity has zero credibility.
Where did I say that unity doesn't work with 2-D pixel games? I just stated that It's a fucking joke that developer behind pixel squad is using unity just to get donations. Like he couldn't use another engine which wouldn't need money for multiplatform option. That of course if he really wanted to finish this game soon. And FYI I'm 19 and I did play a lot of old-school games.

I am aware that the whole menu needs to be to be nice and smooth, however I think that the character picking screen is taking way too long for characters to actually change. Might just get too annoying in the long run.

As the guy said before, you would have a lot of problems with licenses as far as clubs go and players for that players.
