Why would you do this?

LeFishy, would you like me to change your ticket name, or should we just call you Anya all weekend? XD

Hmmm. You'd better change those. I think Anya is a lovely name but I don't want her thinking I'm trying to steal her identity.

NAME: Luke.

What I does: By trade I am a student. I guess I like coming up with terrible game ideas and using Unity to not finish them.

Things I have worked on: I don't think I finished anything. But www.manateegames.co.uk has my stuff.

TIGjam Application: I guess I can prototype stuff quicksharp in Unity... I guess that is about it. Teaming up with an artist would suit me best.

What I want out of TIGjam: Mostly to enjoy myself and maybe finish a game for a change. I find contests and jams to be incredibly motivating too.

So I bought a ticket. It says I'm called Anya Trounce because I had to nick my girlfriends paypal account. Getting to Cambridge from Devon is going to be fun but I'm sure I can make it.

Oh I'd like to get in on some hostelage if that is groovy.

I am going to make a game. I am off to look at resources now. Wish me luck.

Ok I guess this is going to be some kind of FPS/Roguelike hybrid. I'm just fiddling at the moment though.

This will probably rank among my favourite games ever.

But I do definitely think there are trends in what people consider experimental just like there are trends in all other aspects of games.
I don't think it's at all clear what the trends are, outside of the realm of experimental gameplay, where people have remarked on the general fashions several times already on this thread.  Do you have any suggestions as to what some extra-gameplay experimental trends might be?

Hmm extra-gameplay. I guess there is something of a trend in abstract art, silhouettes that kind of thing. At least from what I have seen. Pixels are just as popular as ever.

I wasn't really thinking extra-gameplay though that was how my post started.

The trend point I was trying to make is that stuff like time travel that was experimental a year or two ago got put into what I guess is the "experimental" genre so now time games are experimental even though it has been done quite considerably in the past.

Games don't just have to be experimental in terms of gameplay though. I'd consider Flower to be an experiment in creating an atmosphere and that game was essentially a flying through hoops game.

I think part of the problem is that people see something cool and play with it and ideas develop over time like that so what might've been truly experimental a few years ago is still considered experimental because of that mindset. I'm not really sure though I only went to one EGW in my years at GDC.

But I do definitely think there are trends in what people consider experimental just like there are trends in all other aspects of games. More zombies anyone?

I was like meh and then I saw your 3D tileset. Oh please make a full roguelike set or something with that style. I'd be the happiest man alive for about ten minutes.

That would indeed be amazing. There was also some guy in Oddball's tread (I think?) who was talking about generating 3D graphics from that stuff. There is potential for a mindblowing lo-fi 3D roguelike with some combination and manipulation of these assets.

Yeah I've just been thinking about ripping Oryx's stuff into voxelly type objects and seeing how it goes. Not sure what I'll be doing yet though.

I'd like to see some sort of "ADHD" -curse; I think that might fit the platforming action. So my idea would be that the hat would force the player to continuously move forward, without the possibility to stop. But you could otherwise change direction & act normally.

Haha I like that one. Lemming hat :>

I liked the old jets more. But for real use you'd need no jets, all jets and either side jets. The first rocket is my favouritest though.

Hahaha... Ok I actually quite liked it. It was mental and it has killed my vision but it was awesome while I could see.

I made a better mirror maybe. http://manateegames.co.uk/Smile.exe As promised.

Anyone just noticed the add on weapon for Dragon Age called "The Edge". I can't see how that isn't completely aware and intentional. And brilliant.

I have been using Unity for about a year now and am being pressured by peers and others to learn to program "properly" I fear it becoming free will only compel them to argue further on its lack of merit.

They fail to understand I want to make games... not engines.

Unity is great.
