But I do definitely think there are trends in what people consider experimental just like there are trends in all other aspects of games.
I don't think it's at all clear what the trends are, outside of the realm of experimental
gameplay, where people have remarked on the general fashions several times already on this thread. Do you have any suggestions as to what some extra-gameplay experimental trends might be?
Hmm extra-gameplay. I guess there is something of a trend in abstract art, silhouettes that kind of thing. At least from what I have seen. Pixels are just as popular as ever.
I wasn't really thinking extra-gameplay though that was how my post started.
The trend point I was trying to make is that stuff like time travel that was experimental a year or two ago got put into what I guess is the "experimental" genre so now time games are experimental even though it has been done quite considerably in the past.
